Actor Sharwanand tasted a twin success with Gamyam film after it hit the right note at box office both in Telugu and Tamil. Firm and grounded, Sharwanand doesn’t want to sway away because of success. Here is an exclusive interview with this upcoming actor on the eve of his birthday (6 March). |
What’s new for you this year?
I made a foray in Tamil industry with the Tamil version of Gamyam and it became instant blockbuster and my performance is appreciated. My second Tamil film Nallai Namdhe directed by Vinayan is due for release this summer. I am being approached by many Tamil directors and I am carefully choosing my future films.
What are your future Telugu ventures?
My present Telugu film Raju Maharaju is going to release for the summer. I am doing the role of a spoilt brat who becomes responsible at a later point of time. Mohan Babu is doing my brother’s role. This film is a family entertainer with a love story. The theme of the film is like – We need oxygen to survive. But we need a family to live the life to fullest.
My next venture will be directed and produced by Chandra Siddhardh. It will be launched on 6 March. I signed another interesting project and more details about it will be revealed later.
How is it like working with Mohan Babu?
It is fantastic. I expected him to be serious and tough. But he is jolly and humorous on the sets. But he is very strict when it comes to punctuality and discipline.
What kind of roles you want to do in Telugu?
I love doing roles that show variation. I consider the characters I had done in Vennela, Amma Cheppindi and Gamyam to be the best. I don’t mind doing villain character if somebody comes with a good script.
Which language you prefer now – Telugu or Tamil?
It depends on the script. Language is never a barrier though I like Telugu films a lot. I am concentrating on Telugu now because I got a gap of one year after Gamyam’s release. My next film with Chandra Siddhardh is naturalistic film with ample humor and undercurrent message.
What is the best compliment you got for your work?
My parents never comment on my work. After watching Amma Cheppindi, my father said that I could also act. I treat it as my best compliment.
What is your dream role?
I want to do the role of a ruthless villain character like the one Gopichand did in Nijam film.
How is your new venture Beenz coffee shop (launch coverage) doing?
I am very happy about the way it has become one of the popular hangout zones in Hyderabad. The location is in the heart of the city (near Jubilee Hills club). We got an urbane village look to it with clay cups and spicy food. All the guests like the ambiance as we left lots of free space to give privacy to them. Another interesting and unique aspect about Beenz is the free wi-fi we are giving. And there is nice car parking space.
You are maintaining consistent looks. How do you manage it?
I am not a fitness freak and it’s been a year since I went to a gym. But I maintain my weight at a consistent 70 kgs. I eat everything and never keep away from oily food. But whatever I eat, I make sure that I eat in limited quantities.
Who is the favorite heroine among the ones you worked with?
I did three back-to-back films with Kamalinee Mukherjee (Classmates, Gamyam and Tamil Gamyam). She is my favorite actress.
What do you think is the disadvantage in you?
I am frank guy who always express one’s feeling without any filter. I don’t manipulate my words while talking. Hence I end up hurting people.
Were you hurt or got offended by others in film industry?
Yes. I come from a respectable a decent family with no film background. I am not used for insults and I was only 17 years old at the time i entered film industry. I was insulted in my first two years. If I look back I feel good that I had a bad phase at that time. It keeps me grounded now even if I get a huge success.
What is the best holiday you ever had?
After dubbing for Gamyam film, I took off to USA. Gamyam’s release was getting delayed and I did not sign any new projects. I was utterly frustrated. I took out all my earnings from film industry and decided to live like a king till I spent it all. I went to New York and rented out an apartment in Manhattan on 38th floor in front of Empire State Building. I lazed around, spent all my savings and returned home.
Any new resolution for this birthday?
No.
