Story
The film starts with a person called Prabhakar crushing himself
to death by walking on to a speeding train. He was influenced
by some mysterious person's black magic. As everybody thought
that it was a suicide, Vamsy (Ravi Teja) - brother of Prabhakar
- believes that it's a planned murder.
Vamsy
is in love with his nagging girl friend Bhavana (Radhika Varma).
Bhavana is another victim of occult sciences and she gets
fits occasionally when she is sleeping. The priest tells Bhavana's
mother that Bhavana is under going trauma created by Black
Magic and the solution for this is to get her married to any
guy with a matching birth chart. And she would come out of
occult influence only when the bridegroom of matching birth
chart deflowers her in the first night. Fortunately Vamsy's
birth chart matches with that of Bhavana's and both of them
are wedded now, but their first night gets into trouble due
to some problems.
Vamsy
happens to see a couple of unopened letters addressed to his
deceased brother Prabhakar from a watchman of a guesthouse
in forest. The watchman warns Prabhakar in those letters to
comeback to forest failing to which he would be facing dire
consequences. After reading these letters Vamsy and Bhavana
embarks on a search (Anveshana). The rest of the story is
all about how they chase the mystery.
Artists:
Ravi
Teja: Ravi Teja accepted this film during his bad times.
By the time it is completed and released, Ravi Teja has become
a hottest star with four consecutive thrilling hits. Though
second half goes on a serious mode, Ravi Teja provided some
entertainment with his dialogue comedy in first half. He is
good, as usual, in serious scenes too. Ravi Teja got thunderous
applause for his opening shot, though it was a normal introduction
with hero sitting in library and reading a book.
Radhika
Varma: Radhika Varma - a Delhi theater personality - is
basically a good artist. But she is a bad selection as heroine.
She looks fair, but can't really act in Telugu films due to
nativity problem. Her expressions are very artificial and
lip sync for dubbing is bad.
Other
Cast: Rallapally played the pop to Ravi Teja. Raghu Babu
got another good role in this film and he impresses. All other
characters artists and relatively new faces. Casting is done
appropriately.
Technical
Departments:
Story - screenplay - direction: The basic storyline is
interesting. Director Sagar has made the narration interesting.
But the screenplay of the film is little sluggish. Since,
the film is taken over a period of 2 years with considerable
cash crunch, there are lots of loopholes in the film. There
are unnecessary songs (only two songs are there) and unwanted
action sequences are inserted to please the frontbenchers.
Sagar definitely knows the mass pulse. If somebody can give
him a good budget and huge star cast, he can do better films.
Other
departments: Madhukar, a protégé of RP Patnaik,
provided the music. The background music of the film is apt.
The music for songs is not good. There are a few vulgar dialogues
in the film, which got a good amount of hooting from matinee
crowds. Photography of the film is good and forests are captured
well in the second half. Editing is OK.
Analysis:
The first half of the film provides some entertainment and
a few surprise elements. Second half is boring at times. When
you are going to watch a horror film made by Telugu director,
you know what you expect. If you realize that limitation,
you can find this film to be a passable fare. But for a hero
like Ravi Teja who is on a roller-coaster-ride of hits this
film is a disappointment. The movie is opened with almost-housefuls
and the audiences are 100% males with mass orientation. And
all this credit goes to Ravi Teja for generating good openings
for a film that would have opened with empty halls otherwise.
