Story
Parasuram (Vijay Chandar) is a coach of Japanese martial art
'TAEKWONDO' in Hyderabad. His high-headed student Suraj (Gazar
Khan) becomes a cause of heartache for Parasuram. Maha Lakshmi
(Sindhu) is the daughter of Parasuram. She decides to sell
off the 5 acres she owned in her village to fund the heart
surgery for her father.
Maha
Lakshmi meets Badrachalam (Srihari), an innocent yet very
athletic guy, in that village. She invites him to come to
Hyderabad and get trained in TAEKWONDO from her father. Badrachalam
was thrown out of his house by the jealous sisters-in-law.
Badrachalam, in a state of despair, travels to Hyderabad to
meet Maha Lakshmi and learn the martial arts from her father.
Two
crooks Achi Babu (Kota Srinivasa Rao) and Buchi Babu (Mallikharjuna
Rao) dupe him. They use his muscular power to collect 'protection-money'
from the businessmen. Badrachalam realizes that these two
guys for doing bad things use him. In the process Badrachalam
becomes the victim of the local goon Vijay (Vijay). Vijay
stabs Badrachalam.
Maha
Lakshmi notices Badrachalam in a hospital. Parasuram uses
the money meant for his heart surgery to save Badrachalam
from death. The rest of the film is about how Badrachalam
becomes the world champion of TAEKWONDO against all odds.
Artists:
Srihari:
Srihari has done extraordinary work as the student of Taekwondo
in this film. This film showcases the muscle power and brawn.
He acted very well. But he should consider modulating his
voice in different tones for different emotions. He uses the
same monotonous modulation for all the scenes, which becomes
very redundant.
Sindhu:
She did well in this film. But she is too unglamorous to be
a heroine. She looks like a typical Tamil import with her
dark looks.
Roopa:
She added some glamour for this film. She is only good for
songs. She is pathetic in acting.
Vijay
Chandar: Vijay Chandar donned a typical Sean Connery kind
of character. His getup and dialogue delivery are very good.
Technical Departments:
Screenplay - Direction: N Shankar has directed the films
like Encounter, Jayam manadera and Sriramulayya in the past.
N Shankar's main asset lies in showing the innocence of village
characters. And how the innocent people realize their prowess
and become powerful crusaders. The way he canned the village
beauty in the first half of the film is good. But the screenplay
is not tight.
Music:
Music is the main asset of film. The songs 'Mana Vooru Godavari'
and 'Okate Jananam Okate Maranam' are excellent. Vandemataram
sung these two songs. Even the background score in which Vandemataram
infuses his magical voice sounds very inspirational.
Photography:
There is richness in the photography of the film. Jaswant
has done a commendable job.
Dialogues:
Dialogues are good. But Posani Krishna Murali could have made
the dialogues crisper. Comedy punch in the dialogues written
for comedy scenes is missing.
Fights:
Fight work for this film is another highlight. Srihari seems
to have done lot of hard work in enacting those fight sequences.
Production:
Katragadda Lokesh, a debutant producer, must be applauded
for making a rich film for Sri Hari. This film is the best
film of Srihari so far in the aspects of content and richness.
The promotion and quality of the film is of high standards.
Analysis:
The first half of the film is good. Second half is little
boring at parts. But the director has maintained the over
all grip. If you compare the earlier films of Sri Hari then
this film is excellent. If you look at the film in the contemporary
aspect at a broader scale, it's an average film. The commercial
ingredients dominate the logic in this film. An average movie
goer can enjoy the Badrachalam if you can ignore some logical
points. Badrachalam is a must-see for Srihari fans.
