Story
Bharat (Bala Krishna) is a sincere police officer and a playful
youngster in Mumbai. A medical college student Preethi (Shriya)
falls in love with him.
Back
in Pulivendula, a statue of Chenna Kesava Reddy is shown.
Chenna Kesava Reddy is supposed to be a famous and the most
revered man who is missing for the past 22 years. A faction
leader Dhanunjay Reddy dominates that area. A sincere police
officer (Siva Krishna) is sent to Pulivendula. He irritates
Dhanujay Reddy and as a result that police officer is demoted
and posted as a jailer in Tihar Central Jail. There he finds
Chenna Kesava Reddy, who is clueless about why he is kept
in jail. He says that he is surviving to seek revenge on his
opponents. Who are his opponents? What is his relationship
with the playful cop in Mumbai? Why is his statue erected
in Pulivendula?
To
know the answers, watch this film on a big screen.
Artists:
Bala
Krishna: Bala Krishna played duel role in this film He
is very naughty as a lover boy and serious as the police officer.
The highlight of the film is the get-up of Chenna Kesava Reddy.
He did extremely well in portraying emotions.
Heroines:
Shriya is cute and her role is limited to three songs and
a few teasing scenes. Award winning actress Taboo is reduced
to a character artists in the film. But she excelled in her
small role. Devayani acted as the sister of Chenna Kesava
Reddy. She did very well in a couple of emotional scenes in
second half.
Others:
Jaya Prakash Reddy excelled in his role as villain in flashback
scene with his typical seema lingo. MS Narayana did a comedy
role that is very similar to his Aadi posture. Brahmanandam
have a couple of hilarious scenes as 'Seema Sastry'. LB Sriram
did a 2-minute role as Hippy Lahari.
Technical
Departments
Story:
Story of the film is loosely based on Kamal Hassan's Khaidi
Veta. This story is taken as the baseline and a faction background
is added.
Screenplay
- direction: VV Vinayak, who made dream debut with 'Aadi'
failed to impress the audience with 'Chenna Kesava Reddy'.
Screenplay of the film is pretty loose. There are lots of
inconstancies in narration. There are jerks in flow of the
film. Director concentrated more on canning individual scenes
than keeping holistic perspective in mind.
Music:
Mani Sharma failed to impress the crowds by not giving ample
mass beats in this film. Background music is also not impressive.
Songs:
The picturization and placing of songs is not done properly.
Except for first and last songs, all other songs fail to evoke
response from frontbenchers. The main drawback for songs is
lack of mass beats. Even Lawrance could not get right steps
for these songs.
Fights:
A big plus point of the film is fight picturization. Vikram
Dharma did a fine job. There is one excellent scene where
four Sumo vehicles come out of underground all of a sudden.
All other fights are good. But again, what makes these fights
ineffective is the fact that emotion/cause to do them is missing.
Other
departments: Photography by Ajay Vincent is OK. Editing
by Gowtam Raju is average. Set work by Raju is good.
Production:
The producer seems to have concentrated more on canning individual
scenes than presenting the film with a tight script. For the
kind of rates the film is sold for, the producer should have
made a better film.
Positive
Points:
1. Balayya
get up of Chenna Kesava Reddy
2. Devyani role as CKR sister
3. Chase scene and action sequences
Negative
Points:
1. Screenplay
and direction
2. Narration
3. Music
Analysis:
First half of the film is pretty slow. Second half of the
film is average. The characterization of Chenna Kesava Reddy
is not done effectively. The way he kills his opponents after
releasing from jail is total anti climax. The scenes like
Tabu dieing, Jaya Prakash killing the family of Bala Krishna
did not get the right responses from the crowds. Flashback
scene of the film is not effective. The biggest drawback of
the film is that neither son nor father got elevated in the
climax. We have to wait and see what the masses in AP have
in store for Chenna Kesava Reddy.
