Story
The film opens with the Khadgam title
track that shows the greatness and history of India. There
are a few Ariel moving shots of Charminar. Koti (Ravi Teja)
is a hero wannabe. He has only one goal in life. That is to
become a hero and to be called as 'Babu' by the industry people.
Amjad (Prakash Raj) is an auto driver. Though extremely religious
Muslim, Amjad is very patriotic about India. His younger brother
Azhar is been missing since one year. The cops of Hyderabad
arrested a dreadful ISI terrorist Masood. In a bid to get
him released, the Pakistan authorities train Azhar (brother
of Amjad) and send him across to Hyderabad to create riots
and build communal tension. Azhar comes to Hyderabad and stays
with his brother Amjad. Azhar's secret activities include
devising and executing plans to release Masood.
Radha
Krishna (Srikanth) is a sincere and efficient police officer.
But he is very serious in nature and has enormous hatred towards
Pakistan for the reasons best known to him.
The
rest of the story includes how these three protagonists save
the terrorist Masood from fleeing to Pakistan. And of course
there is a 15 minutes flashback for Radha Krishna that involves
his ladylove Swathy (Sonali Bendre) getting killed by the
ISI guys.
Artists:
Srikanth:
Srikanth played a full time serious role as an honest and
powerful cop. There are good amount of stunts canned on him.
He did a balanced action, as his character is a pretty serious
one with less number of dialogues.
Prakash
Raj: Prakash Raj has got more footage than any other character
in this film. Though he sounded redundant at times, he did
full justice to his role as a patriotic Muslim Indian.
Ravi
Teja: This role of actor-wannabe is a tailor made one
for Ravi Teja. He did extremely well in the scenes.
Raghu
Babu: Raghu Babu (another son of actor Giri Babu) has
been getting impact making roles now a days. In this film,
he played the comic role of a typical PA (cum broker) in film
industry. His getup and accent is extremely good.
Heroines:
Sonali Bendre has a 15-minute role in this film and she is
extremely sensuous in 'Nuvvu Nuvvu' song. Its sounds like
she has dubbed her character in this film. She sounded decent.
Sangeeta did a role of an innocent village belle who comes
to Hyderabad in search of heroine chance in Telugu films.
She realizes that it's not so easy and decides to sacrifice
herself to a director in order to get heroine break (as per
the suggestion of her mother). Kim Sharma played the role
of cheerful girl. But there is no necessity for that role
in this film.

Story
- Screenplay - direction: The basic storyline is about
how three people from different walks of life and with different
professions accidentally join in a mission to foil a terrorist
activity. But Krishna Vamsi did lot of stuffing by inserting
too many different threads. There are four heroes and four
heroines. There is a love track for each couple. There is
a comedy touch for the characters of Ravi Teja and Prakash
Raj. In a bid to insert too many things in too little time,
the director lost clarity. Screenplay of the film is loose.
There is touch of Vamsi in few shots. But the grip on the
pulse of audience is missing. His dig at the popular Telugu
film heroes and 'Babu' culture in film industry is pretty
good. The way he closed the character of Sangeeta is pretty
realistic. But there is no relevance of Raviteja and Sangeeta
characters to the main story line. Krishna Vamsi throws light
on insecurity factor faced by Muslims in India and at the
same time focused how some of Indian Muslims enjoy Pakistan
winning over India in cricket matches. There is a verbal war
between Prakash Raj and Srikanth over the greatness of Hinduism
and Muslim religion in Indian context. But, people come to
watch film for entertainment, but not for the heated verbal
debates over burning issues. Krishna Vamsi also played anti-pakistani
and anti-Muslim card like 'Gaddar' (Hindi film) to raise the
emotions of the crowds. In order to put too many things in
the film, Krishna Vamsi lost focus on straight narration and
meandered over trivial issues.
Dialogues:
Dialogues by Uttej are good in parts. The dialogues written
for Ravi Teja that ridicules current hero system are hilarious.
There is pretty good applause for two dialogues in the film
that refers Pakistanis in unspeakable words (Pakistani *****kodukulu
and Pakistani Madarchod).
Music:
Songs by Devi Sri Prasad are good in the film. Picturization
of 'Nuvvu
Nuvvu' is very pleasant. All other songs also serve entertainment
purpose. Rerecording of the film is good. Govinda
Govinda song is hilarious.
Lyrics:
Lyrics by Sirivennela are good. Especially the title track
makes you sit and see what's happening on screen with reverence.
Musugu Veyyoddu Manasu Meda song has typical Sirivennela kind
of live-and-let-others-live philosophy. Nuvvu Nuvvu lyrics
are very sensuous. Govinda Govinda lyrics by Shakti are good.
Photography:
Photography for the film is decent. But I guess Bhoopati would
have done a better job, if he were given more resources.
Analysis:
First half of the film is decent. Second half is comparatively
dull. When you watch a film and come out, you can say that
you watched a film of a particular genre (like a love story,
family cinema, youth film, comedy flick, mass masala etc).
Though this film is made to represent the patriotic action
film genre, Krishna Vamsi tried injecting all other five-genre
elements. In that process, the patriotic aspect of the film
did not get elevated. As a Telugu film, it's an average one.
But for the standards of Krishna Vamsi it's a below average
product.
