Story
Swapna (Rekha) comes from a traditional family and her father
(Tanikella Bharani) hates the word 'love'. He raises his daughter
with strict family values. Swapna is sent to Vizag city to
complete her graduation. There she encounters Balu (Taaraka
Rathnaa), a happy-go-lucky guy with a heart of gold. Though
she has liking towards him, love is a big no for her, as she
wants to stick to the promise she made to her parents.
When
her father settles a match and sends her the photograph of
her fiancée, the concerned friends of Balu changes
the photograph and replaces it with that of Balu. Balu is
not aware of this incident. Thinking that Balu is the guy
selected by her parents, a happy Swapna starts loving him.
The
rest of the film is dealt with the situation where Swapna's
father comes to know about the truth and takes action in his
style.
Artists:
N
Taaraka Rathnaa: Here are the positive and negative points
of Taaraka Rathnaa as per his debut in 'Okato Number Kurraadu'
Pluses:
1. No stage fear
2. Flexibility in dances
3. Decent dialogue delivery
4. Tried cashing the lineage aspect by having scenes with
NTR's statue and giving reference to babai.
Negative
points:
1. Bad looking
2. Eyes are not impressive. (Eyes play an important role
in expressing emotions more effectively)
3. No grace in dances.
4. Body language is not positive
Rekha:
Rekha is not impressive in this film. She looks pretty lean
and unglamorous though she is decent when it comes to performance.
Others:
Sunil has disappointed comedy lovers. MS Narayana's cameo
is good, as usual. Dharmavarapu Subramanyam's doctor role
in the second half provides comic relief. Raghu Babu (son
of Giri Babu) is slowly establishing himself as a character
artist.
Technical
Departments
Story: Story of the film is routine and predictable.
Screenplay:
We see lots of love stories flooding the screens on weekly
basis. When you are telling a routine story, you need to have
a good screenplay to catch the attention of viewers so as
to make them glued to the screen. If the screenplay of any
love story were not exceptionally good, it would fail to satisfy
the greed of movie lovers who watch similar types of movies
every week.
Direction:
Direction by A Kodandarami Reddy is decent. Being an experienced
man at direction, the shot making and narration of the film
turned out to be quite traditional.
Music:
Keeravani has done amazing work as a music director with foot
tapping tunes. Plus point of the film is going to be music.
But the picturization of the songs needs to be exceptionally
good to satiate the people who expected something more on
screen after listening to the songs in tape recorder.
Dialogues:
Dialogues of the film have blend of youth one-liners and traditional
melodramatic dialogues.
Analysis:
The film starts with an interesting incident, which establishes
why Tanikella Bharini hates love, and it ends with another
interesting incident that changes his mindset about love.
But the scenes shown in between are not good enough make viewers
excited. The film is an average one. We have to wait and see
if the NTR lineage factor helps this average film to become
a good success.
