Story
Ram (Kamal Hassan), a pilot by profession, falls in love with
Mythili (Simran) and marries her. Ram is notoriously known
for his flings with various girls. But he is a changed man
after marriage. Mythili misunderstands Ram in a strange situation
and she returns to her parents place.
Ram
has four south Indian buddies who are his childhood friends.
These caring friends are sad that Ram is separated from his
wife. They wanted to cheer up Ram on his birthday with a surprise.
They take him to a hotel and Ram is introduced to Maragathavalli
alias Maggy (Ramya Krishna), a high-class call girl. But in
the process, it's found that Maggy is dead. The frightened-five
packs that body and throws it into a river.
The
rest of the movie is dealt with how this five-some create
laugh riot with their innocuously funny acts.
Artists:
Kamal looks pretty old in his French-beard getup. But he did
a fine job in doing nice comedy. Watching Simran on screen
after a gap of 8 months is a welcome change. She is cute and
demure. One can't help noticing Simran dancing to glory in
her low-rise jeans (like Sonali in Dayi Dayi song of Indra)
in the 2nd song of the film. Ramya Krishna is sexy in the
getup of a call girl. Jayaram, Ramesh Arvind, Sreeman and
Yogi Sethu did well as the buddies of Kamal Hassan. Other
heroines like Urvasi, Sanghavi and Aiswarya have a very little
role to play.

Story:
This film is loosely based on Hollywood flick 'Very
Bad Things' featuring Cameron Diaz. It's a dark comedy
film. Kamal Hassan wrote story for Panchatantram.
Screenplay
- direction: Though this film deals with a murder-mystery,
the director added comedy to each and every scene of the film.
The same comedy diluted the seriousness of the film. KS Ravi
Kumar is deft at handling situational comedy and he used it
to maximum extent in this film.
Music:
Deva gave a mediocre music for this film. None of the tunes
are good except for 'Meri
Jaan Meri Jaan'. For lots of comedy scenes, Deva has taken
the tune from Samsung's 'True Eye' cellular phone advertisement
as the background music.
Dialogues:
Vennelakanti has successfully translated Crazy Mohan dialogues
in Telugu without losing the punch and pun in the jokes and
one-liners. But the effect is lost as we have been seeing
these kind of pun dialogues in Kamal Hassan films like Bhamane
Satyabhamane, Tenali and Brahmachari.
Analysis:
You can enjoy this black comedy film if you leave your thinking
caps behind and forget about logic. It's an out and out comedy
film. If you like the kind of Tenali
and Brahmachari films, you
can enjoy this one too. Over all, it's a total-time-pass film.
