Story
Prudhvi (Sri Hari) is a sincere police officer and his family
consists of a doting mother (Lakshmi) and dutiful wife (Vijaya
Lakshmi). He gets transferred to Cherukuru, a notorious village
where a landlord called Rayudu (Ranganath) runs a parallel
government. Rayudu is none but the father of Prudhvi. Prudhvi's
mother leaves Rayudu and stays along with her son, where as
Rayudu is married to another woman (Siva Parvathy).
During
the auction of arrack shops, Narayana (Sri Hari) - a look-alike
- makes a surprise entry. He bids the arrack shops at highest
price and procures them. Baffled Prudhvi questions her mother
if he had any twin. Then she says that he used to have a twin,
but he was killed 26 years back.
What
exactly happened it the flash back? Is Narayana is really
a twin of Prudhvi? What's Narayana's objective in life? Why
did he appear suddenly from nowhere? To know the answers,
you got to watch the movie!
Artists:
Sri
Hari: Sri Hari did a duel role in this film. Except for
few scenes, he disappoints his fans to great extent. His character
of police officer lacks the mass punch. He imitated Manoj
Bajpai (from AKS) for the negative role of 'Narayana'. He
looks very awkward in that get up. But he did extremely well
in a scene where he meets his mother for the second time.
Except for the extraordinary performance in that scene, Sri
Hari did not show any good variety in performance.
Meghana
and Vijaya Lakshmi: Vijaya Lakshmi has a little role to
play and she enacted well as the dutiful Brahmin wife of police
officer. Meghana has nothing to do in this film except for
flashing her body.
Technical
Departments
Story
- screenplay - direction: P Vasu, a bigtime director from
Tamil who has given stories to big hits like Gharana Mogudu,
Muddula Mavaiah, Assembly Rowdy, Chanti etc failed miserably
with this film. He did not even succeed in having viewer's
attention in grip at least for 5 minutes in the film. There
is no punch in characterization of heroes and no balance in
the emotions of the film.
Music:
Vandemataram came up with pathetic tunes in Pruthvi Narayana.
Music is bad and picturization is worse (the unit went abroad
to can a couple of songs).
Other
departments:
Editing of the film is very bad. Not even a single dialogue
is worth remembering. Fights are not interesting enough. Camera
work is average.
Analysis:
It's very sad that Sri Hari choose such a lousy subject to
make a film on his own banner. First half of the film is uninteresting
and second half is bad. It turns your spirits down even if
you don't expect anything out of it. I consider you to be
lucky to read this review. You can save your time and efforts
unlike me.
