Story
Sivanna (Arjun) and Lakshmi (Swati) are siblings. Their
parents die when they were kids. Sivanna took the entire
responsibility of raising his sister. Lakshmi falls
in love with Ajay (Srinath). Sivanna marry off his sister
to Ajay. But Ajay's family member is against to this
marriage. When Ajay leaves abroad for an assignment,
family of Ajay plots a conspiracy on Lakshmi and accuses
her of having an extramarital affair with the car driver.
Ajay
believes in his mother and starts abusing Lakshmi. When
Sivanna comes to know about it, he offers to take her
back to his home. But she refuses. The rest of the film
is all about how Sivanna finds out evidence to prove
the innocence of his sister.
Artists
Performance
Arjun has two facets to his screen image. One is action
orientation and the second one is his ability to make
the sentimental scene flourish. He is very suitable
for the role of the brother. Meena is good as the girl
who is after hero all the time. Her performance is matured
in the second half of the film. Swati is good as the
sister of the hero. Srinath is OK. The comedy track
enacted by Shakeela, Sudhakar and Dharmavarapu Subramanyam
is in the cheap taste.
Technical
Departments:
Story:
The title of the film says it all. It is about brother
calling her sister back after she is being subjected
to humiliation. The basic storyline is an age old one.
This story is supposed to be inspired a real-life incident.
Screenplay - direction: Screenplay of the
film is average. Kodi Rama Krishna is expert at handling
sentimental stories. In This film also he inserted all
ingredients to attract female audiences. But he over
did the sentiment scenes most of the times. He leaves
the character of Anant Raj in the middle and there is
no logical ending
Other
departments: Music by SA Raj Kumar is adequate.
A couple of melodies helped in establishing the mood.
The fast tracks are not impressive though. Dialogues
by Pusala are OK. Cinematography by Giri is good. The
production values of this film are decent.
Analysis:
This film is a remake of Kannada blockbuster. It's a
heavy duty sentiment film, which is over done at most
of the times. First half of the film is average. The
second half is gripping in few scenes. The scenes in
which Meena gives a fitting reply in the house of hero's
sister got tremendous response. The director should
have avoided the vulgar comedy track of Shakeela &
Sudhakar. This film has high drama and heavy sentiment
quotient. This film would not appeal to urbane crowds
and youth. Would this sentiment be enough to drag the
ladies - habituated to never-ending sob TV serials -
to the theaters? We have to wait and watch!
