Story
Seetayya (Hari Krishna) is a powerful cop whose objective
is to put an end to the ruthless factions in Rayalaseema.
There are two warring factionist families in Dharmavaram,
who are on a spree of killing each other. Seetayya becomes
a tough obstacle to those families. A girl called Bangaram
(Simran) is caught up in Seetayya's house by accident
and there on she falls head over heels for him. When
the factionists enquire about Seetayya's past it is
revealed that his real name is Sivayya. He erased the
factionism and bloodshed in a village Ontimitta in the
past. He was married to a girl called Seeta, who was
killed in a bombing after delivering a baby boy. Then
onwards Sivayya changes his name to Seetayya. The rest
of the story is all about how Seetayya reforms the factionists
in Rayalaseema.
Artists
Performance
Hari
Krishna: It's a delight to watch Hari Krishna doing
an amazing performance in all departments. He reminded
us of the great NTR in lots of the sequences (not just
because of the physical similarities but also with his
histrionic capabilities). YVS Chowdary knows how to
project the macho and mass image of Hari Krishna very
well and he used it to the maximum extent. The dances
of Hari Krishna in this film deserve a special mention.
The choreographer composed steps in such a way that
they look top class on the screen and also provide us
the wholesome entertainment. His scenes involving Soundarya
are very tender.
Heroines:
Simran is the perfect glamour doll of this film. She
is extremely sexy in the songs. Her character also has
some lighter vein comedy in the first half. She used
her graceful dancing skills to maximum extent to entertain
star-stuck audience. Soundarya did a small role in this
film that lasts for 10 minutes in the film. She did
well.
Others:
There are 16 villains in this film out of which 4 of
them are females (Nalini, Subhashini, Vindhya etc).
There are so many of actors that none of them are given
lengthy roles. All of them did their bit well.
Technical
Departments:
Story: There is not much story in this film.
Screenplay
- direction: YVS Chowdary has done excellent work
in terms of shot making in this film. He elevated the
character of hero to greater heights. There is so much
of pumping of mass elements in this film. However, the
narration of the film is slow. By inserting too many
characters in the film and concentrating heavily on
the hero's character, YVS Chowdary could not balance
the right proportions in the film. His ability of conceiving
songs and picturizing them are excellent. He is only
next to K Raghavendra Rao in exhilarating the matinee
crowds with superb song picturization. But, he could
not justify the sudden transformation of hero's attitude
from a bloodthirsty warrior (in massacring train episode)
to a peace-preaching saint in the climax.
Music:
Keeravani has done extraordinary work for this film.
His background music is also very good. The way he kept
'om' chanting, as background music for Hari Krishna
is pretty good.
Songs
picturization: All the songs are excellent with
pleasing visuals on the screen. The opening song of
the film 'Evari Maata Vinadu seetayya' is canned in
black and white format with Hari Krishna looking ravishing
with jeans outfits. The highlight songs of the film
are 'Ammathodu' and 'Bassekki Vastavo' with Hari Krishna
wearing the 70's and 80's NTR costumes and doing superb
steps. Simran's solo song 'Okka Magaadu' imagining Legend
NTR is excellent. The way she gyrates her hips for this
song needs special mention. 'Siggestundi' song is pictured
on Simran with the backdrop of portraits of Hari Krishna.
This concept is very creative and romantic. 'Aadi Shankarula'
song is canned on the youth pair Ravi Kanth and Suneeta
Varma. 'Samayaniki' is a melodious number done on Hari
Krishna and Soundarya. 'Ravayya Ravayya' song is good.
'Idigo Rayalaseema Gadda', which is canned with a huge
NTR statue backdrop, is very good.
Dialogues:
Dialogues by Posani Krishna Murali are OK. The dialogue
'Kudirite Gandhji. Kudarakapothe Nethaji' explains the
nature of Seetayya in this film. But too many mass dialogues
coming at such a fast pace has brought down the impact.
A powerful dialogue uttered at the crucial time makes
more impact than continuous mass dialogues. There are
good claps for some mass dialogues in this film.
Other
departments: Photography by Madhu A Naidu is very
good. He used the right kind of lighting schemes. The
sets done for songs are excellent. Especially the background
color combinations used for 'Ammathodu' song worth a
mention.
Production:
The production values of this film are simply superb.
You can match the richness of this film only to a couple
of big production houses in AP. You can see every penny
spent on this film on the screen in terms of richness.
Analysis:
The first half of the film is decent. But the second
half is little slow. The climax is weak. The strengths
of the film are Hari Krishna's performance, Keeravani
music, YVS's picturization of songs and high production
values. The weakness is the story, script and slow narration.
There is too much of violence in the film. The duration
of this film is very lengthy (more than 3 hours). Over
all it's an average film that has got fair chances of
doing extremely well in B and C centers because of excessive
mass elements. YVS Chowdary - being a confident producer
- has announced that the 100 days function of 'Seetayya'
would be held on 1st December 2003 at Ananthapur. YVS
Has already proved his capability of a producer who
promotes his product to the right kind of segment.
