Story

Chandram (Venkatesh) is a great follower of Subhash Chandra Bose and joins Bose Sainyam (Army of Bose) and protects the patriotic interests of village Chintapally by defending the rule of British Empire in 1946. Chandram destroys the administrative offices and police stations of British Empire. Bandodu (Prakash Raj) is one of the members of Chandram's gang. He betrays Chandram and kills him. While dying, Chandram warns Bandodu that somebody would rise up to the occasion and make sure that national traitors would not be spared. Ashok is a restless youngster in the present day. When he observes Venkata Ratnam (Prakash Raj) in a function, he suddenly gets agitated feeling. One fine day, he is forced to dawn on the village of Chintapally. The rest of the story is all about how he realizes the past and takes revenge on Venkata Ratnam.

Artists Performance

Venkatesh: Venkatesh did well in both roles of Chandram and Ashok. However, the characterizations of these two characters are not good enough to exploit the histrionics of Venkatesh. He has shown variation in the get-up of both the characters.

Heroines: Shriya is cute in the role of innocent patriotic village belle. Her costumes are very simple as they represent the culture of 1940s. She is sensuous and at the same time voluptuous in the song of 'Neredi Pandu'. Genelia did a run of the mill character. A white woman did an important role as the sympathizer of Indian Freedom Movement.

Others: Prakash Raj is OK as the main villain. Gulshan Grover did the role of British Collector. Tom Alter donned the role of white Governor. Kota Srinivasa Rao did the role of assistant to Gulshan Grover. Tanikella Bharani is good as father of Venkatesh. Among the comedians, Krishna Bhagawan is successful in creating some comedy.

Technical Departments:

Story - screenplay - direction: The basic storyline provided by Satyanand offers some variety. But it is not developed in a convincing way. Screenplay of the film is not interesting. K Raghavendra Rao disappoints us with his work. The emotions in the period part of the film are not brought out well. Narration of the film is old-fashioned.

Music: Music by Mani Sharma is adequate. Visually 'Neredi Pandu' (Venkatesh & Shriya) is excellent and aurally Jajiri Jajiri song is cool. Chandrabose was forced to write crazy lyrics like 'mokka jonna thota lo kukkalochayi' because the situation demands Venkatesh to make fun of British people in vernacular language by performing in front of them.

Other departments: Photography by Bhupati is good. Dialogues by Paruchuri brothers are adequate. Artwork (palace set) by Ashok is good. The location chosen for period episode is very appropriate. Fights by Vijayan are ok. Production values of Vyjayanthi banner are excellent as always.

Analysis: First half of the film is mediocre. Second half is routine and boring. The period episode of the film is not executed well. The tactics of hero in getting the truth out of villain towards climax are unappealing. On a whole, the most competent team of Venkatesh - K Raghavendra Rao - Aswini Dutt disappoints the audience with Subhash Chandra Bose.
