                            Story
K (John Abraham) is a compulsive smoker. His friend (Ranvir Shorey) who introduced his smoking, recommends him of a rehabilitation center for getting rid of his smoking. His wife (Ayesha Takia) threatens to leave him if he doesn’t quit smoking. K goes to the rehabilitation center and meets the chief Baba Bengali (Paresh Rawal). The rest of the story is about what happens next.
Actors: John Abraham is good. Ayesha Takia is adequate. Ranvir Sheroy is just ok. Paresh Rawal fits the bill.
Technical departments: Story of the film is confusing. Screenplay is contrived. Direction is alright. Music is good. However it is strange to picturize a song sung by male singer (Adnan Sami) on a female. Cinematography is very good. The cg work and postproduction special effects are good. The following dialogue is good -

John: why are you leaving? ‘Nobody’ leaves me.
Ayesha: I am leaving because I am ‘nobody’.

Analysis: No Smoking is like a bouncer to an unassuming Hindi film lover. If you enter theaters without knowing what this film is all about, you are bound to get hit on your head. First half of the film is hardly bearable. But the second half is completely insane. Anurag Kashyap who gave an excellent film like Black Friday came up with a dud like ‘No Smoking‘. You leave the theater without understanding what director wanted to convey. ’No Smoking’ is probably my first Hindi film which I did not understand half of it.
