Eega is one of the many films considered by Film Federation of India for the best foreign film nominations from India. Eega is the only Telugu film. Tamil film industry has two entries - 7 Am Arivu (7th Sense in Telugu) and Vallaku En 18/9. Hindi film industry has many - Heroine, Barfi, Kahaani, Gangs of Wasseypur, Paan Singh Tomar, Ferrari Ki Sawari, and The Dirty Picture. Malayalam film Akashaninthe Niram and Marathi film Deol are also in the race. There is also a film each from Gujarathi and Punjabi. A 16-member jury will watch all these films from 18 of September to 26 of September in Hyderabad and shortlist one as the official Oscar entry from India.
