Music of Sekhar Kammula’s latest movie Leader was released at a function organized in Hotel Marriot on the night of 22 November. MS Guhan, MS Reddy, Murali Mohan, D Rama Naidu, Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, Sumanth, Allu Arjun, Vishnu, Akhil, Allu Arvind, Krishnam Raju, Suresh Babu, Tanikella Bharani, Kodandarami Reddy, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Aswini Dutt, KL Narayana, Shyam Prasad Reddy, MS Raju, Richa, Priya Anand, Meher Ramesh, Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao, Prakash, Ahuti Prasad, Bhaskar, Rao Ramesh, Krish, C Vijay Kumar, Micky J Meyer, TV Ravi Prakash etc attended it.

Chiranjeevi launched the audiocassette and gave the first unit to D Rama Naidu. M Saravanan launched the audio CD and gave the first unit to D Rama Naidu and Chiranjeevi. Celebrities launched a song each.

Leader is a political drama – Sekhar Kammula
Sekhar Kammula said, “All my films are small films. I feel honoured and privileged to direct a film for a prestigious banner like AVM. They didn’t ask me any questions and entrusted with the responsibility of making a good film. People might be speculating that it was Suresh Babu and D Rama Naidu who asked me to introduce RaNa. But RaNa is my find and I selected RaNa because he has all qualities of the protagonist in Leader. I had a gap of six months after Happy Days and I didn’t decide about my next movie yet. That is when election schedule was announced. I saw TV and did lots of research as I wanted to make a political drama. The current political scenario in India needs a leader and I tried to show how a leader should be with this movie. I feel that making Leader movie is the best deed I ever did in my entire life. There will not be a single fight in the movie, yet there will be tremendous heroism. We didn’t show a drop blood in the movie. There is a feel in the entire movie. We got inspired by devotional songs and patriotic songs to make music for Leader. Veturi has penned brilliant lyrics. RaNa is a disciplined and sincere actor. You must watch Leader movie to know how good he is at acting. I am confident of movie’s super success.”

Sekhar Kammula will join elite directors list with Leader - Veturi
Veturi said, “I had been associated with Sekhar Kammula movies right from his Telugu debut movie Anand. Leader is the perfect political film which is the need of this hour. Sekhar Kammula will be joining the list of elite directors like Santharam with this movie.”

I want RaNa to surpass me in fame and achievement – D Rama Naidu
D Rama Naidu said, “This is one of the happiest days in my life. I came to film industry in 1962. I launched Suresh Productions banner on 16 November, 1963 and made the movie Ramudu Bheemudu. D Suresh Babu was studying in college at that time. When I asked him to act in movies, he refused. When I wanted to make a movie with Krishna in 1986, I couldn’t get his dates. I asked K Raghavendra Rao if he could introduce my son Venkatesh as hero with the same story and he accepted. Venkatesh was studying in USA at that time and that is how Kaliyuga Pandavulu was made. Telugu movie lovers encouraged Venkatesh. I am sure that RaNa will also get encouragement. I always wanted to be the number one and I want RaNa to surpass me in fame and achievement in the career he has chosen for himself.“

Everybody encouraged me - RaNa
RaNa said, “I would like to thank everybody here for their support and encouragement. I would like to thank Marthand K Venkatesh who brought this project to me first. There will be lots of problems when somebody acts in movies for the first time. Everybody in the unit made sure that I am at home in sets. My family members have dedicated their lives towards Telugu film industry for the past 47 years. I am following their footsteps today. I am born and raised in Telugu film industry.”

RaNa is like my family member - Chiranjeevi
Chiranjeevi said, “ I am very happy to grace this event. I am as happier as I was when I introduced Ram Charan Teja. RaNa is also like my family member. RaNa is making his grandfather dream come true. He should also be lucky to be introduced in a prestigious banner like AVM. I did two films with AVM and Punnami Nagu was like a milestone for me. The other highlight of the film is the direction of Sekhar Kammula. He created a new trend in Telugu films. I saw Anand in theatre once and in TV many times. He has got lots of class taste and I am very happy to see him direct a film on politics with nobility.”

Micky J Meyer said, “I would like to thank Sekhar Kammula for the opportunity. I worked hard on this music because I had to give tunes to noted patriotic lyrics. Sekhar gave me lots of freedom. Re-recording is also very good. Veturi gave great lyrics. It’s my dream to meet Chiranjeevi and I am very happy because I shook his hand today.”
