In light of recent developments in the Telugu film industry, prominent producer Allu Aravind held a press meet on Sunday to offer clarity. Speaking on the occasion, he said:

“You are all aware of what's been happening in the industry over the past couple of days. I called this press meet to address a few of those issues. There’s been a narrative in the media recently about ‘those four people’. I am not one of them. I am not part of that group. The term ‘those four’ began 15 years ago. Over time, those four became ten. No one questioned it. Right now, there are ten individuals who own theatres. I exited the theatre business during the COVID period. I don’t own a single theatre in Telangana. I only have an interest in AAA Asian Theatre. Even in Andhra, I had let go of all my theatres long ago. Out of the 1500 theatres in Andhra Pradesh today, only 15 belong to us.

And even those 15 are on lease, and we are not renewing those leases once they expire. Yet, they keep using my photo in association with ‘those four’ and criticize me. I request media friends not to club me in with those four. I am not involved in business with them. I only have 15 theatres under my name.

Regarding the proposed theatre shutdown from June 1st, I felt the response by the Cinematography Minister was very reasonable. I did not participate in any of the meetings related to this issue — deliberately and willingly. I also instructed my Geetha Distribution representatives and my associates not to attend those meetings.

When the theatre sector is facing difficulties, we must talk to senior figures in the industry and resolve the issues amicably. I was displeased by the one-sided decisions made by some individuals and hence stayed away.

Declaring a theatre shutdown during the release of Pawan Kalyan’s film is reckless. Pawan Kalyan garu is someone who selflessly helps people from the industry without hesitation. I remember when Ashwini Dutt garu’s film was in trouble, we met Pawan Kalyan garu, and he even suggested we approach CM Chandrababu Naidu officially on behalf of the Film Chamber. But our people didn’t follow through. That was a missed opportunity.

We should meet the government officially, together. But we didn’t. Recently, someone said our industry has nothing to do with the government. If that's true, why did major film industry leaders meet the previous Chief Minister? No business can run properly without government support. Avoiding the government now is not correct. Should we only go to the government when we're in trouble?

The note from the AP Minister was very reasonable. Yes, single-screen theatres are genuinely facing problems. When such issues arise, we should have open discussions — not call for theatre shutdowns impulsively.”

ప్రస్తుతం సినీ పరిశ్రమలో జరుగుతున్న పరిణామాలపై క్లారిటీ ఇవ్వడానికి ఆదివారం ప్రముఖ నిర్మాత అల్లు అరవింద్‌ పాత్రికేయుల సమావేశం ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. ఈసందర్బంగా ఆయన మాట్లాడుతూ ''. రెండు రోజులుగా సినిమా ఇండస్ట్రీలో జరుగుతున్న విషయాల గురించి మీకు అవగాహన ఉంది. వాటిలో కొన్ని విషయాల గురించి మాట్లాడటానికి ఈ ప్రెస్‌మీట్‌ ఏర్పాటు చేశాను. రెండు రోజుల నుంచి మీడియాలో ఆనలుగురు అనే ఓ ప్రచారం ఉంది. ఆ నలుగురికి నాకు సంబంధం లేదు. నేను ఆ నలుగురిలో లేను. గత పదిహేను సంవత్సరాల క్రితం ఆ నలుగురు అనే సంబోదన స్టార్ట్‌ అయ్యింది. ఆ నలుగురు ఆ తరువాత ఆ పది మంది అయ్యింది. అది ఎవరూ పట్టించుకోవడం లేదు. పదిమంది దగ్గర ప్రస్తుతం థియేటర్‌లు ఉన్నాయి. ఆ నలుగురు వ్యాపారం నుంచి కోవిడ్‌ సమయంలోనే బయటికి వచ్చేశాను. తెలంగాణలో నాకు ఒక థియేటర్‌ కూడా లేదు. ఏఏఏ ఏషియన్‌ థియేటర్‌ మాత్రమే వుంది. ఆంధ్రాలో కూడా అన్ని థియేటర్స్‌ ఎప్పుడో వదిలేశాను. ఇప్పుడు ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లో పదిహేను వందలు థియేటర్స్‌ ఉంటే మా దగ్గర కేవలం పదిహేను మాత్రమే ఉన్నాయి. ఈ థియేటర్‌లు కూడా లీజు రెన్యూవల్‌ గడువు ముగిసిన తరువాత లీజు కంటిన్యూ చేయడం లేదు. పాత అలవాటు ప్రకారం ఆ నలుగురిలో నా ఫోటోను వాడుకుంటున్నారు. నన్ను విమర్శిస్తున్నారు. దయచేసి మీడియా మిత్రులు ఆ నలుగురు న్యూస్‌లో నన్ను కలపకండి. నేను వాళ్లలో లేను వారితో వ్యాపారంలో లేను. పదిహేను లోపే నాదగ్గర థియేటర్స్‌ మాత్రమే ఉన్నాయి. జూన్‌1 నుంచి థియేటర్స్‌ మూసివేస్తాం అనే అంశంపై సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ మినిస్టర్‌ రియాక్ట అయిన విధానం చాలా సమంజసంగా ఉందని నాకు అనిపించింది. నేను ఈ థియేటర్స్‌ అంశానికి సంబంధించిన ఏ మీటింగ్‌లో పాల్గొనలేదు. నేను కావాలని, ఇష్టం లేక వెళ్లలేదు. నా గీతా డిస్ట్రిబ్యూషన్‌ సంబంధించిన వ్యక్తులు కానీ, నాతో అసోసియేట్‌ అయిన మనుషులు కానీ ఈ మీటింగ్‌కు వెళ్లొద్దని చెప్పాను. థియేటర్స్‌కు చాలా కష్టాలు ఉన్నప్పుడు ఇండస్గ్రీపెద్దలతో మాట్లాడి. సమస్యలు, సామరస్యంగా పరిష్కరించుకోవాలి. కొందరు ఏకపక్షంగా తీసుకున్న నిర్ణయం పట్ల నాకు చిరాకు కలిగి వెళ్లలేదు. థియేటర్స్‌ మూసివేస్తున్నాం అనడం కరెక్ట్‌ కాదు. పవన్‌ కల్యాణ్‌ గారి సినిమా విడుదల సమయంలో థియేటర్స్‌ మూసి వేస్తామని చెప్పడం దుస్సాహసం. మన ఇండస్ట్రీ నుండి ఎవరూ వెళ్లిన కాదనకుండా హెల్ప్‌ చేస్తున్న మంచి మనస్సున వ్యక్తి పవన్‌ కళ్యాన్‌ గారు. గతంలో అశ్వనీ దత్‌ గారి సినిమా విషయంలో పవన్‌ కల్యాణ్‌ గారిని కలిశాం. అప్పుడు ఆయన ఫిల్మ్‌ ఛాంబర్‌ తరపున వెళ్లి సీఎం చంద్రబాబు నాయుడు గారిని కలవండి అని హింట్‌ ఇచ్చారు. అయితే అప్పుడు ఎందుకో మన వాళ్లు పట్టించుకోలేదు. ఆ విషయాన్ని విస్మరించారు. అఫీషియల్‌గా అందరం కలిసి కలువాలి. కానీ కలవలేదు. పవన్‌ కల్యాణ్‌ గారు హింట్‌ ఇచ్చిన కలవలేదు. ఎవరో ఇటీవల మనది ప్రభుత్వానికి సంబంధం లేని రంగం అని అంటుంటే విన్నాను. ప్రభుత్వానికి సంబంధం లేని పరిశ్రమ అయితే గత చీఫ్‌ మినిస్టర్‌ను సినీ పరిశ్రమలోని పెద్ద పెద్ద వాళ్లంతా వెళ్లి ఎందుకు కలిశారు? ఏ వ్యాపారం అయినా సవ్యంగా చేసుకోవలంటే ప్రభుత్వ సహకారం లేకుండా జరగదు. ఇప్పుడు ప్రభుత్వంను వెళ్లి కలవకపోవడం సరికాదు. మనకు కష్టం వస్తే తప్ప మనం ప్రభుత్వం దగ్గరికి వెళ్లమ? ఏపీ మంత్రి దగ్గర నుంచి వచ్చిన నోట్ ఎంతో సమర్థనీయంగా ఉంది. నిజంగానే సింగిల్‌ స్క్రీన్‌ థియేటర్లకు సమస్యలు ఉన్నాయి. సమస్యలు ఉన్నప్పుడు మాట్లాడుకోవాలి తప్ప ఇలా థియేటర్స్ మూసి వేస్తున్నామని చెప్పడం సరికాదు' అన్నారు.
