Fondly addressing Vijayashanti as Amma, actor Nandamuri Kalyanram remembered the former’s path breaking film Karthavyam (1990) serving as an inspiration for Arjun Son of Vyjayanthi, his next, the teaser launch of which was held in Hyderabad on Monday. “We all remember Karthavyam film, right? The stunts Amma performed in it and the emotion… It was an unforgettable film. If Vyjayanthi from Karthavyam has a son, the events that follow are the crux of Arjun Son of Vyjayanthi. When director Pradeep Chilukuri narrated the story, the only question I asked him was whether Amma would accept it or not? He replied, saying ‘sir I don’t know’. I told him that if she doesn’t accept the film, I don’t think it’s right on our part to do the film. The biggest pillar of our film is Amma. I’m stating it wholeheartedly. Even at her age, she pulled off stunts magnificently without any dupe. Amma, thanks a lot for everything,” the actor said.
He added that he likes Vijayashanti garu a lot as a person. “During childhood I met her on the sets of Surya IPS. She was so sweet at that time. She treated me like her own child, feeding me food and ice-cream. And I need not to mention the films she did with Babai. Thiers is one of the best combinations. After all these years, when I met her at the pooja ceremony of Arjun Son of Vyjayanthi, there was an instant connection. The sincerity that a mother shares with her son is mirrored in the film.”
Kalyanram further revealed that Arjun Son of Vyjayanthi will be remembered for the next 20 years like his breakthrough project Athanokkade and that Pradeep will become a very big commercial director in the future.
