The trailer of Kamal Haasan-starrer Bharateeyudu 2, directed by Shankar, was dropped by the makers on Tuesday and it is every bit as thrilling as expected.

The trailer, spanning 2:37 minutes, opens with one of the characters of the film bemoaning the fact that people don’t have the job for the skills they possess nor the right pay for the jobs they have. There are no good facilities for the taxes we pay, she adds. She goes on to add that the thieves continue to rob, while criminals continue to commit crimes as we get to see government officers accepting bribes to get the work done. Enter Siddharth who seems to be playing a common man who is dejected with the way society is functioning and wants someone to usher in a change. At one point, he says it’s time for the hunting dog to arrive and get rid of the elements plaguing the society. When a friend asks if such a person exists, he says there was one. The trailer soon cuts to the flashes of Senapathy aka Bharateeyudu from the earlier film. We also get to see CBI officer Krishnaswamy (Nedumudi Venu) who was investigating Senapathy in the first part. As the clamour for Bharateeyudu grows, Senapathy comes back to do what he does the best-- taking on the corrupt elements in the society. This time around, he is deadlier, sharper and smarter, camouflaging like he alone does. There comes a point where he equates the current situation in the society to the second war of independence, urging people to take a Gandhian approach while he will take the route of his guru Subhas Chandrabose.

Overall, the trailer is a captivating mix of emotional moments and high-octane action as Kamal uses his Varma Kalai skills to fight bare-chested and runs through a moving train and on road with the help of a hoverboard. The scale is bigger and better than Bharateeyudu and the issues graver. Kamal is just being Kamal, while Siddharth seems to have got a meaty part. And so does SJ Suryah it appears.

Produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, the film will be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi on July 12.
