With Thandel, filmmaker Chandoo Mondeti had another super hit in his kitty. The biggest grosser in Naga Chaitanya’s career, the love story inspired from a real incident has attracted a great deal of traction on streaming giant Netflix as well. It’s another story that the film would’ve raked in more moolah if it hadn’t fallen prey to pirates, its success, however, established Chandoo as one of the most promising voices of the present generation.
No wonder, there is a huge anticipation surrounding his next move. While many leading lights from Bollywood reached out to the director after the success of Karthikeya 2 for a possible collaboration, the director chose to do Thandel. Now, we hear he is setting his eyes firmly on Bollywood.
“Chandoo pitched an idea to Kartik Aaryan after Karthikeya 2 and it's heading in the right direction now. The fact that he is attached to make another film for Geetha Arts and with Kartik working with Allu Aravind in the Hindi remake of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo means that there is a high probability for this combination to see light of day. At the same time, Chandoo is also discussing a project with Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan. It wouldn’t be a no mean feat to get the approval of Hrithik as the actor takes aeons to green-light a script. But one thing’s for sure: Hrithik is interested to work with Chandoo,” reveals a source close to the development.
The source adds, “Chandoo is presently working on a couple of stories and both of them are deeply rooted in our history. From Telugu, the director is in talks with Ram Pothineni. He recently met the actor on the sets of the latter's next with P Mahesh Babu in Rajahmundry. Both like each other’s work. In fact, Chandoo narrated two-three storylines to the actor in the past. So Chandoo’s next mostly depends on which actor is willing to give him dates at the earliest. He is looking to take his next to the floors before the end of this year.”
