The teaser of Kannappa, starring Manchu Vishnu in the titular role, was released by the makers at AMB Cinemas in Hyderabad on Friday and it would not be wrong to say it is an adrenaline-packed ride powered by strong performances.
The 1:39 seconds teaser opens with Vishnu as Thinnadu offering prayers to lord Shiva. We are later introduced to Kalamukha who seems to be playing the principal antagonist. He gets the shock of his life when he learns that 50 of his men who were sent to snatch Vayulinga from Thinnadu’s place were brutally killed. The dead include his powerful brother Tenkana who needs at least 100 people to neutralize him. But who has single handedly killed all of them? It’s Thinnadu. The rest of the teaser is dotted with visuals of supporting actors like Mohan Babu, Mohanlal, Sarathkumar as Vishnu performs some deadly stunts and takes on multiple men piercing his arrows into their chest. And wait for the surprise. We also get to see glimpses of Akshay Kumar and Prabhas towards the end. While the latter’s role is shrouded in mystery, the former plays Lord Shiva. Vishnu only shows close ups of their eyes but isn’t it enough?
Overall, the teaser is a whirlwind of high-octane sequences, hinting at a complex narrative with top-class visuals. Don’t blink, because then you might miss some of the action that takes place at thrilling speed. The background score by Stephen Devassay’s enhances the dramatic impact of the teaser. Vishnu’s portrayal of a ruthless warrior and an even pious devout promises to be a standout performance in his career. After seeing the teaser, we can say that the film will take you on a journey of insurmountable challenges, love and devotion.
