At the media interaction of MAD Square trailer launch in Hyderabad on Wednesday, film’s presenter S Naga Vamsi clarified on the ticket hike issue. “It’s a festival weekend. There are four releases lined up. So there is a shortage of theatres. Ours is a small film and we are giving it a compact release. Plus, we got a Rs 50 hike in places in Andhra Pradesh where the maximum ticket cap is Rs 100. In other areas, the prices remain the same like before; we haven’t hiked the rate. As it is summer time, we want students and youngsters to come and enjoy the film, so the rate is normal like before,” the producer stated.
He reiterated that the film, written and directed by Kalyan Shankar, has no story. “It’s a comedy film. As you’ve seen in the trailer, it’s filled with punch one-liners. So don’t expect a story to come to theatres. Come to have a good laugh in theatres,” he said and added they are planning limited paid premiers tomorrow evening in the Telugu states. “Indian copy is not ready yet. Once it is, we will assess how many areas we can dispatch the content and plan accordingly.”
To a question on when his project with Tamil director Nelson, which reportedly features Jr NTR in the lead role, will take off, Vamsi played cards close to his chest. “It’s confirmed that I will be doing a film with Nelson garu next year. We have to confirm who the hero is.”
