మయసభ విజయం వెనకున్న సైన్యం, సంవత్సరాలుగా కష్టాలు, అడ్డంకులు ఎదుర్కొంటూ సినిమా తప్ప వేరే జీవితమే లేదని బతుకుతున్న అండర్‌డాగ్స్. వారి ప్రయాణానికి నివాళిగా ఈ వ్యాసాలు రాస్తున్నాను. వారిని తీర్చిదిద్దిన జీవిన పోరాటాలు, మయసభలో వారి ఎలా ఎంపిక, ఈ విజయంలో వారి పాత్ర ఈ వ్యాసాల్లో ప్రధాన అంశాలు. ప్రతి మనిషి ఒక నడిచే కథ—ఆ కథని ప్రపంచం వినడానికి, ఒకే ఒక్క అవకాశం చాలు.
In Karuppan, she was asked to look older and put on weight for the role. She did it with dedication and without hesitation. The film gave her recognition, but at the same time, it also backfired—at just 22, she was stereotyped as much older than she really was. That image stayed, and many opportunities slipped away. For 2–3 years, offers reduced, and then Covid hit. Tanya never relied on her legacy. She wanted her own identity, and her own principles sometimes cost her opportunities too.
Our producer Vijay spotted her on Facebook and referred us to look into her work. Watching a few clips of Karuppanconvinced us that she’s a natural actor with immense charm. Her skin tone is amazing in front of the camera. After just one video call, we were all super convinced—such a lively and honest conversation. We didn’t have to audition her after watching Karuppan.
One of our DoPs, Gnana Sekhar, always used to say that she has the best skin tone he ever lit. She carried the character with immense grace and utmost honesty. Her goodbye scene to KKN is one of my most refined, I would say. Tanya’s beautiful smile, height, and extraordinary dancing skills helped convincingly portray the rising superstar from dance tents. Her character is similar to how we are all vulnerable—to money, power, and social constraints.
Though she may seem grey at times, she’s real... perhaps even more real than any other character in the show.
Mentioning just a few of her many improvisations:
1. The way she expresses her shock upon seeing KKN’s wedding costumes—and the misunderstanding from his point of view—is a million-dollar expression, apart from her million-dollar smile in other scenes.
2. The impeccable timing with which she danced in the first folk song—we used to watch that song every day in the edit room as the first thing before we started editing, just to feel a positive vibe.
The success of Mayasabha gave Tanya a new space, a fresh voice. Her journey hasn’t been smooth—it’s been full of pauses, battles, stereotypes, and lessons. But it’s also been filled with hope, resilience, and love. And she believes…

తాన్యా రవిచంద్రన్ చిన్నప్పట్నుంచే యాక్టర్ కావాలని కలలు కనేది. తన తాతయ్య రవిచంద్రన్ గారు—తమిళ సినిమాల్లో హీరోగా, విలన్‌గా, సహాయ పాత్రలలో ఒక అద్భుతమైన నటనను ప్రదర్శించిన గొప్ప నటుడు. ఆయనే తనకి ఇన్స్పిరేషన్. తాన్యాకి అడ్స్, సినిమాల నుంచి అవకాశాలు వచ్చినప్పటికీ, ముందు పీజీ పూర్తి చెయ్యమని తల్లిదండ్రులు కండిషన్ పెట్టారు. పీజీ ఫస్ట్ ఇయర్ లో ఉన్నప్పుడు ఒక సినిమా అవకాశం వచ్చింది కానీ అది టేక్ ఆఫ్ అవలేదు. కానీ, వెంటనే రాధామోహన్ గారి “బృందావనం” ద్వారా ఒక అందమైన అవకాశం లభించింది. తర్వాత "బల్లె వెళ్లయ్యత్తేవా", "కరుప్పన్" సినిమాలు వచ్చాయి.
"కరుప్పన్" లో ఆమె కొంచెం ఏజ్ ఎక్కువగా కనిపించాలనీ, బరువు పెరగాలనీ కోరారు. తాన్యా నిబద్ధతతో, ఎక్కువ ఆలోచించకుండా అడిగినట్టే ఆ పాత్రకి న్యాయం చేసింది. ఆ సినిమా మంచి గుర్తింపు కూడా తెచ్చింది. కానీ అదే తనకు సమస్యగా కూడా మారింది. అప్పటికే తన వయసు కేవలం 22, కానీ చాలా మంది అంతకన్నా ఎక్కువ వయసున్న క్యారెక్టర్ లకి స్టీరియో టైప్ చేశారు. ఆ ముద్ర అలాగే నిలిచిపోయింది. చాలా అవకాశాలు కోల్పోయింది. తర్వాత కోవిడ్ వచ్చింది. తాన్యా ఎప్పుడూ తన లేగసీ మీద ఆధారపడలేదు. స్వంతగా గుర్తింపు తెచ్చుకోవాలి. తన సిద్ధాంతాల కోసం కొన్నిసార్లు అవకాశాలను వదులుకోవాల్సి వచ్చింది.
మా ప్రొడ్యూసర్ విజయ్ ఆమెను ఫేస్‌బుక్‌లో చూసి, తన వర్క్ చూడమని సూచించారు. కరుప్పన్ క్లిప్స్ చూసిన వెంటనే కన్విన్స్ అయిపోయాం—నాచురల్ యాక్టర్ అనిపించింది. కెమెరా ముందు ఆమె స్కిన్ టోన్ అద్భుతంగా అనింపించింది. వీడియో కాల్ లో తన మాటల్లో నిజాయితీ, తనని తాను ప్రూవ్ చేసుకోడానికి ఒక మంచి క్యారెక్టర్ కావాలన్న ఆకలి కనిపించింది. ఆడిషన్ చేయాల్సిన అవసరమే లేదనిపించింది.
మా DOP ల్లో ఒకరైన జ్ఞానశేఖర్ సెట్లో ఎప్పుడూ తాను లైట్ చేసిన యాక్టర్స్ అందరిలోకల్లా తాన్యా స్కిన్ టోన్ ఇస్ ది బెస్ట్ అని చెప్పేవాడు. రిఫ్లెక్టివ్ స్కిన్ టోన్. తాన్య అను హారిక పాత్రను ఎంతో గ్రేస్‌తో, నిజాయితీతో పోషించింది. KKNకు వీడ్కోలు చెప్పే సన్నివేశం ఇప్పటి వరకు నేను రాసిన సీన్స్ లో నాకు బాగా నచ్చిన సీన్ గా టాప్ ఫైవ్ లో ఉంటుంది.
తాన్యా చిరునవ్వు, ఎత్తు, డ్యాన్స్ టాలెంట్—all helped her convincingly portray a superstar rising from dance tents. ఆమె పాత్ర ధనం, అధికారం, సామాజిక పరిమితులు మన క్యారెక్టర్ రంగుని ఎలా మార్చేస్తుంది అనేదానికి నిదర్శనం. చాలా చోట్ల గ్రే షేడ్లలో కనిపించినా, ఆమె పాత్ర షోలోని మిగతా పాత్రలన్నిటి కన్నా రియలిస్టిక్.

1. KKN పెళ్లి కాస్ట్యూమ్స్ చూసినప్పుడు ఆమె చూపిన షాక్‌ ఎక్స్ప్రెషన్, ఆ తర్వాత తాను పొరపాటు అర్థం చేసుకున్నట్టు చూపిన భావం—ఒక మిలియన్ డాలర్ ఎక్స్ప్రెషన్. ఆమె స్మైల్ కూడా ఒక మిలియన్ డాలర్ స్మైల్.
2. మొదటి సాంగ్‌లో ఆమె వేసిన స్టెప్పుల టైమింగ్ అద్భుతం. ఆ పాటను మేము ఎడిట్ రూమ్‌లో ప్రతి రోజు ఎడిటింగ్ స్టార్ట్ చేసే ముందు ప్లే చేసి ఒక పాజిటివ్ వైబ్‌ తో ఎడిట్ మొదలు పెట్టేవాళ్ళం.
Mayasabha విజయం తాన్యాకి ఒక కొత్త ప్లేస్, కొత్త వాయిస్ ని ఇచ్చింది. ఆమె ప్రయాణం సాఫీగా సాగలేదు—బ్రేకులు, పోరాటాలు, స్టీరియోటైపులు, లైఫ్ లెస్సన్స్ తో నిండినది. కానీ ఆశయం, పట్టుదల, ప్రేమతో కూడినది కూడా.
