People’s Star Sundeep Kishan is set to mark his landmark 30th film with ‘Mazaka,’ directed by blockbuster filmmaker Trinadha Rao Nakkina. The film is produced by Rajesh Danda under the AK Entertainments and Hasya Movies banners, with Balaji Gutta as the co-producer. This mass entertainer stars Ritu Varma as the female lead, along with Manmadhudu fame Anshu and Rao Ramesh in key roles. The teaser and songs released so far have received a tremendous response. This highly entertaining film is set for a grand theatrical release on February 26 as a Maha Shivaratri special. On this occasion, hero Sundeep Kishan shared insights about the movie in a press meet.

Is ‘Mazaka’ your first full-fledged comedy role?
I have done comedy films before. In Beeruva, my character had a full-length comedy touch. Venkatadri Express was a comedy film too, but my character was always in a state of tension. Mazaka, however, is my first full-length comedy entertainer. My character is very energetic throughout the film.

How was it working with Rao Ramesh?
It was an amazing experience. Our chemistry worked out very naturally. He has done many great films, and I believe this movie will bring him even more respect as an actor.

Tell us about your character in the film.
My character’s name is Krishna. My father and I live together as bachelors. No one invites us to festivals or family gatherings. We are seen as a father-son duo who just drink and enjoy life together. The film is packed with surprises and fun entertainment. Mazaka is a clean comedy entertainer—a laugh riot.

What do you think about Leon James' music?
I love Leon’s music. His compositions bring a fresh feel to this film. I told him that I wanted a blockbuster album. Although we didn’t have much time to promote the songs, tracks like Bebamma and Sommasilli Pothunnave have already gained traction. After the movie's release, the songs will become even more popular.

Why did you choose a film centered around a father-son emotion?
My last four films had a serious tone. I wanted to do a good family entertainer, which is why I chose Mazaka. It was my luck that Trinadha Rao and Prasanna came together for this project. This film has a concept that hasn’t been explored before, and it will surprise the audience. The goal was to create a movie that everyone can watch together and enjoy.

How does it feel to reach your 30th milestone film?
30 films in 15 years—this has been a very interesting and adventurous journey. I have dedicated myself completely to my profession, sometimes prioritizing it over my family. But I take pride in the fact that I have introduced many great stories, new directors, and fresh talent along the way.

Do you have any dream projects?
I love period films. I have always wanted to do a Robin Hood-style film with a fantasy element. I also wish to do a romantic film like Raanjhanaa.

Whose idea was it to cast Anshu?
It was the director and Prasanna’s choice. I initially thought of someone like actress Sangitha, but the director and Prasanna had a different vision. They said, “Imagine how funny it would be if someone like Anshu was in love with Rao Ramesh’s character.” That comedic angle worked out brilliantly.

What was it like working with Ritu Varma?
Ritu has added a fresh charm to the film. This kind of movie is new for her, and our characters have come out beautifully.

How was your experience working with Trinadha Rao Nakkina?
I have always admired Trinadha Rao. His first film Memu Vayasuku Vacham was beautiful. Even if he narrated that story today, people would love it. He understands commercial cinema grammar very well, which is why he consistently delivers blockbusters.

Do you have a favorite dialogue in the film?
There’s a scene referencing Kushi. In that scene, when my dad sees a woman’s waist, he gets shaken up, and I ask, “What happened, Dad?” He replies, “Now I understand why the Pithapuram MLA was so shocked back in the day!” Unfortunately, that dialogue got censored (laughs).

What was it like working with the producers?
Rajesh and Anil are like family to me. One is like a brother, and the other is a great friend. We work together with a lot of positivity.

How did you feel about live-streaming the film’s shooting?
I was surprised to know that this was the first time such a thing was done. The response was amazing.

Can you share something about Vijay’s son Sanjay’s film?
The shooting has begun. It’s a fantastic new-age action entertainer. Sanjay is working incredibly hard—day and night. It’s exciting to see a first-time director making such an ambitious project. This film is a Telugu-Tamil bilingual.

Any upcoming projects?
Sanjay’s film is currently in progress. I’m also working on a Netflix series, and Family Man 3 is coming soon.

మజాకా ఫస్ట్ టైం మీరు చేస్తున్న కామెడీ రోల్ అనుకోవచ్చా?
-కామెడీ సినిమాలు గతంలో చేశాను. బీరువాలో నా క్యారెక్టర్ కి పుల్ లెంత్ కామెడీ టింజ్ వుంటుంది. వెంకటాద్రి ఎక్స్ ప్రెస్ కామెడీ సినిమానే కానీ అందులో నా క్యారెక్టర్ టెన్షన్ లో వుంటుంది. మజాకా మాత్రం నేను చేసిన ఫుల్ లెంత్ కామెడీ ఎంటర్టైనర్. క్యారెక్టర్ చాలా ఎనర్జిటిక్ గా వుంటుంది.

రావు రమేష్ గారితో వర్క్ చేయడం ఎలా అనిపించింది ?
-చాలా బాగా అనిపించింది. మా కెమిస్ట్రీ చాలా నేచురల్ గా వర్క్ అవుట్ అయ్యింది. ఆయన చాలా మంచి సినిమాలు చేశారు. ఈ సినిమా కూడా నటుడిగా ఆయకి ఇంకా రెస్పెక్ట్ ని తీసుకొస్తుందని నమ్ముతున్నాను.

ఇందులో మీ క్యారెక్టర్ గురించి చెప్పండి ?
-నా క్యారెక్టర్ పేరు కృష్ణ. నేను నాన్న ఒకే ఇంట్లో బ్యాచిలర్స్ గా బ్రతుకుతుంటాం. మమల్ని ఎవరూ పండగలకి పబ్బాలకి పిలవరు. కలిసి తాగిపోడిపోయే తండ్రి కొడుకులంగా కనిపిస్తాం. సినిమాలో చాలా సర్ ప్రైజ్ లు వుంటాయి. చాలా ఫన్ ఎంటర్ టైన్మెంట్ వుంటుంది. మజాకా క్లీన్ కామెడీ ఎంటర్ టైనర్. లాఫ్ రైడ్ గా వుంటుంది.

లియోన్ జేమ్స్ మ్యూజిక్ గురించి ?
-లియోన్ మ్యూజిక్ నాకు చాలా ఇష్టం. తన మ్యూజిక్ ఈ సినిమాకి ఫ్రెష్ నెస్ తీసుకొస్తుంది. బ్లాక్ బస్టర్ ఆల్బమ్ కావాలని చెప్పాను. అయితే పాటల్ని జనాల్లోకి తీసుకెళ్ళే సమయం దొరకలేదు. అయినప్పటికీ బేబమ్మ, సోమ్మసిల్లి పోతున్నావే పాటలు జనాల్లోకి ఫాస్ట్ గా వెళుతున్నాయి. సినిమా రిలీజ్ తరవాత రీచ్ మరింతా పెరుగుతుంది.

ఫాదర్ సన్ ఎమోషన్ వున్న సినిమా చేయడనికి కారణం ?
-నా గత నాలుగు సినిమాలు సీరియస్ టోన్ లో వుంటాయి. ఒక మంచి ఫ్యామిలీ ఎంటర్ టైనర్ చేయాలనే మజాకా చేశాను. దీనికి త్రినాధ్ రావు, ప్రసన్న కలసి రావడం లక్కీగా కుదిరింది. ఇప్పటివరకూ రాని కాన్సెప్ట్ ఈ సినిమాలో వుంది. ఇది ఆడియన్స్ ని సర్ ప్రైజ్ చేస్తుంది. అందరూ కలసి చూడదగ్గ సినిమా చేయాలనే ఉద్దేశంతో చేసిన సినిమా ఇది.

30వ మైల్ స్టోన్ చేరుకోవడం ఎలా అనిపిస్తోంది ?
-15 ఏళ్లలో ముఫ్ఫై సినిమాలు. ఇది వెరీ ఇంట్రస్టింగ్ ఎడ్వంచరస్ జర్నీ. నేను ప్రేమించిన వృత్తికి పూర్తి అంకిత భావంతో నా కుటుంబం కంటే సినిమాకి ఎక్కువ ప్రాధాన్య ఇస్తూ ముందుకు వెళుతున్నాను. ఈ ప్రయాణంలో మంచి కథలని, ఎంతో మంది కొత్త దర్శకులని, న్యూ ట్యాలెంట్ ని పరిచయం చేశాననే ఆనందం వుంది.

మీకు డ్రీమ్ మూవీస్ ఉన్నాయా ?
-నాకు పిరియాడిక్ సినిమాలు ఇష్టం. రాబిన్ హుడ్ లాంటి సినిమా చేయాలని వుంది. రాబిన్ హుడ్ కథని ఫాంటసీ ఎలిమెంట్ తో చేయాలనే కోరిక ఎప్పటినుంచో వుంది. అలాగే రాంజాన లాంటి లవ్ స్టొరీ చేయాలని వుంది.

అన్షు గారిని తీసుకోవాలనే ఛాయిస్ ఎవరిది ?
-డైరెక్టర్, ప్రసన్న గారిది. నేను సంగీత గారు లాంటి యాక్టర్ అనుకున్నాను. అయితే డైరెక్టర్, ప్రసన్న మంచి ఆలోచన చెప్పారు. అసలు అన్షు లాంటి అమ్మాయిని రావు రమేష్ గారు ఎలా ప్రేమిస్తారు ? అక్కడే ఇందులో కామెడీ పండుతుందని చెప్పారు. అదే అద్భుతంగా వర్క్ అవుట్ అయ్యింది.

రీతు వర్మ గురించి ?
-రీతు ఈ సినిమాకి ఒక ఫ్రెష్ నెస్ యాడ్ చేసింది. తనకి ఇలాంటి సినిమాలు కొత్త. మా క్యారెక్టర్స్ చాలా బ్యూటీఫుల్ గా వచ్చాయి.

త్రినాథ్ రావు నక్కిన గారితో వర్క్ చేయడం ఎలా అనిపించింది ?
-త్రినాథ్ రావు గారు నాకు ఎప్పటినుంచో ఇష్టం. ఆయన ఫస్ట్ సినిమా మేము వయసుకు వచ్చాం బ్యుటీఫుల్ ఫిల్మ్. అప్పటి నుంచి ఆయన నాకు ఇష్టం. ఆ కథని ఇప్పుడు చెప్పినా జనం చూస్తారు. త్రినాథ్ గారి సినిమా గ్రామర్ తెలుసు. సీన్ ని ఎలా తీస్తే పండుతుందో తెలిసిన డైరెక్టర్. అందుకే వరుసగా బ్లాక్ బస్టర్స్ కొడుతున్నారని భావిస్తున్నాను.

ఇందులో మీకు ఇష్టమైన డైలాగ్ ఏమిటి ?
-ఇందులో ఖుషి రిఫరెన్స్ సీన్ వుంది. నడుం చూసి నాన్న షేక్ అయిపోయివుంటే.. ఏమైయింది నాన్న అని అడుగుతాను. 'ఇప్పట్లో పిఠాపురం ఎమ్మెల్యే గారు అప్పట్లో ఇలాంటివి చూసి ఎంత కంగారు పడ్డారో ఇప్పుడు అర్ధమౌతుంది'అనే డైలాగ్ వుంది. అయితే డైలాగ్ సెన్సార్ అయిపొయింది(నవ్వుతూ).

నిర్మాతల గురించి ?
-రాజేష్, అనిల్ గారు అంటే నాకు హోం ప్రొడక్షన్. ఒకరు అన్నయ్య, మరొకరు ఫ్రెండ్ లా వుంటారు. చాలా పాజిటివ్ గా కలసి పని చేస్తాం.

షూటింగ్ ని లైవ్ లో చూపించడం ఎలా అనిపించింది ?
-షూటింగ్ ని లైవ్ లో చూపించడం అదే తొలిసారి అని తెలిసి చాలా సర్ ప్రైజ్ అయ్యాను. దీనికి చాలా మంచి రెస్పాన్స్ వచ్చింది.

విజయ్ గారి అబ్బాయి సంజయ్ సినిమా గురించి ?
-షూటింగ్ స్టార్ట్ అయ్యింది. చాలా మంచి సినిమా ఇది. న్యూ ఏజ్ యాక్షన్ ఎంటర్ టైనర్. సినిమా కోసం సంజయ్ గొడ్డు చాకిరీ చేస్తున్నాడు. డే అండ్ నైట్ కష్టపడుతున్నాడు. అలాంటి ఒక ఫస్ట్ టైం డైరెక్టర్ తో వర్క్ చేయడం చాలా ఆనందంగా వుంది. ఇది తెలుగు తమిళ్ బైలింగ్వల్.

న్యూ ప్రాజెక్ట్స్ గురించి ?
-సంజయ్ సినిమా నడుస్తోంది. నెట్ ఫ్లిక్స్ లో ఓ సిరిస్ వుంది. అలాగే ఫ్యామిలీ మ్యాన్ 3 రాబోతోంది.
