Vishwak Sen-starrer Laila not only flubbed big time at the box office but also attracted an avalanche of criticism for its crass content, despicable humour and double entendre among many other points. Many critics and the general audience too dubbed the film as Vishwak’s worst effort until date.
It seems Vishwak has heard the response loud and clear as on Thursday he released a statement, saying that he deeply respects the feedback he has received and promised that his films henceforth will not cross the vulgarity line.
“My last film received constructive criticism which I wholeheartedly accept. To my well-wishers and those who believe in me, I sincerely apologize. My intention has always been to bring something fresh to the audience, and I deeply respect the feedback I’ve received. Moving forward, I promise that whether my films are class or mass, they will never cross the line into vulgarity,” he said.
He added, “If I make a bad film, you have every right to criticize me because it was you who stood by me with unconditional love when I had no one. Since the beginning of my career, I have chosen stories that connected with you and I will continue to do so. But from now on, it won’t just be about making good films--every single scene of mine will count.”
He concluded by extending his gratitude to the producers and distributors who supported him and assured that he “will be back with a strong and promising project”.
Vishwak has Funky, a comedy entertainer, lined up with Jathi Ratnalu fame KV Anudeep up next.
