Shruti is going to have an anxious weekend this time, because her first Hindi film (Love, Sex and Dhoka) is releasing on Friday (19 Mrach) and her first Telugu film (Taj Mahal) is going to release on 20 March. Incidentally, her character name in both these films is Shruti. Here are the excerpts of our exclusive interview – |
Background:
I am basically from Mumbai. I complete my degree in Mass communication from Jai Hind college. I used to participate in theater during my college and school days. I did few commercials after that. I was auditioned for films of Jr. NTR and Naga Chaitanya (Josh) in the past. Sivaji saw my portfolio in Dil Raju’s office and cast me in Taj Mahal. He gave me the DVD of Kannada Taj Mahal and I liked the film a lot. I am also doing female lead in 19 March Hindi release Love, Sex and Dhoka.
Tell us about your character in Taj Mahal?
My character name is also Sruthi in this movie. Taj Mahal is a sweet and simple love story. I am doing the role of a career oriented girl who is strong and independent. Love is the last thing on her mind. It is one-sided love from Sivaji in the movie.
Tell us about your character in LSD?
I am playing the role of Shruti who is madly in love with a guy. She is shy, suppressed and dependent. She gets easily influenced. My characters in Taj Mahal and LSD are completely opposite in nature.
How is it like working in a Telugu movie?
Language is a big barrier for me. Director Arun Singaraju got the entire dialogue version written in English so that I could read it and remember lines. I uttered my lines in Telugu on the sets unlike others who say abcs and 123s.
Tell us about producer and actor Sivaji?
He is a wonderful human being. He is a relaxed guy as a producer. He gave me liberty to do differently on sets. He also gave his inputs and feedback.
What are your favorite movies?
I love the comedy part in Dil Chahtah Hain. I don’t like loud comedies like Golmaal. I admire action flicks like Kill Bill. Among the romance genre, I like Jab We Met. I also like Sawariya and A Wednesday.
What kind of movies you want to do in future?
I don’t want to do just glamorous roles. I want to do strong roles across the genres. I love doing action flicks like Kill Bill.
