An open letter to Teja by Venkat Ranga Reddy Ravula

Hi Teja Gaaru,

I'm pradeep vallur. I live in Dallas, Texas and I'm a student of NY Film Academy. I did my masters in CS and I'm a network designer. It was good to read your interview. I really admire the way you worked your way UP with sheer hard work and determination. And we are thankful that you dispelled the myths of star power.

But I'm sorry to say that the same cant be said about the movies that you made so far. "chitram" at best can be termed as a 'c' grade and cheap film, and I'm not talking abt the budget of the movie, but the quality. And "Nuvvu-Nenu" is a PATHETIC movie, frankly. Its sheer luck. But the camera work and the songs are BRILLIANT. The heroine looks a good prospect, but the less we talk abt udaykiran , the better it is. The only scene which was very well shot in the movie was when the hero comes to heroine's place while she goes to mumbai in search of him. The chasing scene when the hero runs with the stab wounds on his body and the background music at that point are really good. It only tells me ONE THING. THAT YOU ARE CAPABLE of making good movies. A mediocre director like B.Gopal or a Krishna Reddy can never make such scenes. The scenes have no innovativeness whatsoever. I read in your interview that your approach was different. come on, cut the crap, other than RP's excellent music, there's NOTHING, NOTHING that even comes closer to being termed as NOVEL or NEW. Well you are right when u say that critics dissect the film and don't view it as a whole. But here, in my case I'm not a critic, I love movies, good movies. Basically there are two types of movies, one - totally mass, like B.Gopal, David Dhawan, etc etc. Their films become huge hits, but they are outright meaningless movies, and they dont talk abt their film being new and different and stuff like that. I appreciate them , they are not trying to fake something. The other kind- is good movies made by directors who don't really care abt the commercial value, and make movies that have a coherence and a consistency and quality work associated with them. Films by Varma, Mani, Farhan Akhtar and Aditya Chopra fall in that category. I think you must first decide which school you are going to join first. Dont make B.Gopal quality movies and talk as if they are of Varma quality. call a spade a spade, OK.

And Teja gaaru, this opinion is shared by many people I've met. You have the talent, but your work so far has been very mediocre. We hope that u make films that are as high in quality as your photography. Hoping to see u make some very good movies for all of us die-hard fans of Telugu Films.

Thank you
pradeep
