At first go the film seems to be a comedy but as it
progresses into the latter part of the second
half
it becomes a high-level sentimental and cruel drama
perpetuating misery on newly weds in the name of `fate'.
Certain
amount of mysticism is added here to explain that
certain families are cursed. This creates an imbalance
in the narrative . Also the theme is needlessly narrated
in the form of a flashback, as told by the lead character
Kalyana Ramudu, to a group of children.
There
is a special make up effort to show young Venu as
an old man, like Kamal Hassan in Bharateeyudu. But
its purpose stops at that. This subject does not need
him to look so. Purely it is directorial skill that
sustains the drama, as there is very little in the
theme.
The
relationships between characters are odd and unusual,
like a cook and the daughter of an industrialist who
fall in love Brother's Siva (Suman) and Ramu (Venu)
undertake contracts for holding all varieties of functions
- from marriages to funerals. They have another brother
Ravi (Raja Ravindra), a doctor working in a hospital.
Siva
is a widower, while the others are eligible bachelors.
Industrialist Chandrasekhar (Nasser) engages Siva
and party to look after arrangements for the marriage
of his first daughter. The bride is dumb and Chandrasekhar
is happy that is able to find somebody to marry her.Siva
and Ramu befriend Chandrasekhar M.S.Narayana and Suneel
are notable in the gang of cooks. The comedy part
is quite hilarious, supported by good dialogue (Maruduri
Raja).
The
bridegroom's father suddenly mentions that his son
eloped with somebody to an unknown destination.
The
hilarity gets checked with the announcement of the
father (Narra) of the bridegroom that his son eloped
with his lover to an unknown destination. A shocked
Chandrasekhar is relieved by brothers Siva and Ramu
who console him saying they will get his daughter
married to their third brother Ravi. And like an obedient
brother, he accepts to marry her. But, just after
the marriage, the girl dies in a fire accident.
Ramu
and Kalyani (Chnadrashekhar's second daughter) are
in love and give their nod for marriage. But the sudden
arrival of Chandrasekhar's nephew Rajesh (Prabhudeva)
changes the situation. Chandrasekhar announces that
Rajesh is about to marry his daughter Kalyani.
On
knowing this Ramu is shocked. But Rajesh clears the
way for Ramu saying that Kalyani loves him. Chandrasekhar
is happy and contacts an astrologer, who cautions
him about Venu's family being cursed (since the wives
die after marriage). Does the curse work?
Venu
who is known for his comedy roles performs well. Suman
rightly underplays his role as the eldest of the family.
Raja Ravindra gets a positive role for a change and
impresses. Nikita as Kalyani is quite charming. All
the scenes with her and Venu sustain interest romantic
interest. Nasser proves his versatility. The musical
content is the positive contribution.
