This romantic comedy is a through entertainer, from first
reel to the last, well handled by director Muppalaneni Siva.
The presence of Abbas and Vineet brings back the memories
of Prema Desam, also a triangular love drama, which ends with
the three youngsters deciding to stay as friends.
In this film, the bone of contention between the tow childhood
friends Seenu (Vineet) and Prabhu (Abbas) is Anjali (Laya).
Seenu loves her and Prabhu tries to take her away, bluffing
all the way - about his stay abroad, about different jobs
he did and the dollars the saved in a bank.
Seenu creates a scene at the railway station before boarding
a train to take up a job in a shoe firm. This opening scene
itself sets the humour mode and the momentum continues till
the end. In the compartment, he comes across a man, Rampandu
(Sudhakar), who eventually turns out to be his typist in the
same office.
Seenu meets his relative (Brahmanandam), who runs a STD booth
and, with his help, he takes a house owned by AVS on rent.
He is charmed by the beauty and pious nature of Anjali (Laya0,
the girl who stays next door. As he prepares to make his way
into her heart, his roguish friend Prabhu arrives. A Casanova
from his college days, Prabhu also sets his eyes on Anjali.
The rest is a comical drama, with Prabhu making efforts to
attract the girl. He makes Anjali believe that the money Seenu
sends for her college fees, books he purchases for her studies
and the gift he brings for her birthdays are all his own benevolent
acts. However, Anjali's parents (Chandramohan and Sudha) decide
to give their daughter in marriage to Seenu, because he is
well settled.
But, Anjali resists because she loves Prabhu who wangles a
higher post for himself than that of Seenu. Now decks are
clear for Anjali to marry Prabhu. The game does not end there
and moves on an interesting course, worth watching.
Abbas simply dominates the show throughout as a cunningly
cute contender. He keeps good humour going on with his funny
acts. Vineet, in contrast, looks too docile and lost. Laya
retains her innocent looks and also performs equally well.
Brahmanandam is another force for this enlivening comedy.
AVS also contributes his mite within the limits of his character.
Manorama lives the role of loving mothe. Vizag Prasad and
Satyanarayana play important roles in the last parts of the
drama, besides producer D. Ramanaidu who appears in the crucial
role of a doctor to give the final twist to the narration.
New actress Soni has an interesting role towards the end.
Music by S.A. Raj Kumar is soothing. The film is opening in
theatres on 1st March 2002.
