                    About
                    the film

Movies revolving round fans and their matinee idols are not
uncommon to cinegoers. Hrishikesh Mukherjee's "Guddi"
and Dasari Narayana Rao's "Sivaranjani" are two
such films. "But our film is different from these movies.
It is about fans, their achievements and their idolizing the
stars, and the ideals of their matinee idols," informs
Sudarsan Bhattacharya nee J.K. Bharavi, the writer of the
much-acclaimed "Annamayya". He is now making his
debut as director with Raghuramaiah Creations' "Fans".
His maiden attempt showcases the activities of the diehard
film fans of various stars from a new angle.

Suryavamsi, Sunitha Varma, Vijaya Bhaskar and Priya Sharma
                    - all newcomers play the fans. The movie's shooting has recently
been completed, and it is now in the post- production stage.

Says Bharavi, "Inspired by the social service activities
taken up by some popular stars, I have written the story.
Suryavamsi and Sunitha Varma play the fans of Chiranjeevi.
Following the footsteps of their favourite star, how they
commit themselves to serve the society forms the theme. Of
course, it is also a love story. But there is a vast difference
in the canvas - it takes place in the village. "Kota
Srinivasa Rao plays the main villain and Suryavamsi defeats
him in the panchayat elections to become the president. Our
aim is to channelise the energy of the youth into constructive
work. The fans here, irrespective of their star affiliation,
rally together to react to a social issue in a thrilling finale.

"For lighter moments, the movie has all the top comedians.
The film has nine songs, which includes one with the list
of names of all the Chiranjeevi starrers to date. I would
like to call my debut attempt a thought-provoking entertainer".

The film's presenter Nara Jayasri Devi says the idea to make
a movie of this nature came up while working with Chiranjeevi
in "Sri Manjunatha". "He is the sole inspiration
for the movie. Generally, fans of popular heroes are at loggerheads
with each other. Our idea is to bring them closer. The film
is not a documentary, but a wholesome entertainer with a message".

The star cast includes Brahmanandam, Babu Mohan, A.V.S., Gundu
Hanumantha Rao, Bharani, Uthej, Chittibabu, L.B. Sriram, Dharmavarapu
Subramanyam, Sumalatha, Krishnaveni, Ramyasri and Rajita.

Dialogue is by Sri Krishna, Choreography by Rajasekhar, Camera
by D.D. Prasad, art by Kishore and Praveen, and fights by
Ram Lakshman. Editing is by Kalpana. P. Nagaraju is the co-director.
