Story

Seenu (Nara Rohit) kidnaps Chief Minister (Kota Srinivasa Rao) when he visits an old-age home. He takes CM as hostage in old age home. Cops get hold of Srikar (Sree Vishnu) who helped him kidnap CM. As cops strive to get clues about kidnapper, Seenu comes out with whacky yet valid demands that mostly deals with Indian currency and economy. The rest of story is all about the background of Seenu and why he has kidnapped CM.

Artists Performance

Nara Rohit whose voice is a huge asset uses it to good effect in Pratinidhi film. His underplayed histrionics and laidback body language suited the role well. Sree Vishnu comes up with another endearing performance after Love Ishq Kadhal. Subhra Aiyyappa is just okay. Kota Srinivasa Rao breaths life into his character with expressions and dialogue delivery. Posani Krishna Murali entertains as a frustrated top cop. Jaya Prakash Reddy did an usual role.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: Story and screenplay is penned by Anand Ravi. He seems to have done a lot of research about indian currency and economy. He came up with valid arguments and questions about present currency. The screenplay is good in second half where the suspense is revealed in parts at the right time. Director Prashanth Mandava comes up with a decent execution for the kind of resources and budget he is allocated with. The orientation of the film reminds us of Bollywood blockbuster ‘A Wednesday’. The director sticks to the basic story and drives the narrative with conviction. No efforts were made to indulge in forcing commercial elements just for the heck of it. However, the kidnap scene of CM is not convincing enough.

Other departments: Music by Sai Karthik is average. Camera work by Chitti Babu is inconsistent. Dialogues written by Anand Ravi are well-researched and thought provoking. Editing is okay. Production values are cheap and technical values are inferior.

Analysis

We have been watching political films in the last two weeks as elections are approaching. Pratinidhi is a film that neither targets elections nor politicians (except for NTR reference in the interval). Pratinidhi targets the current economy. This film has well researched content and is narrated in a thriller format. Pratinidhi works because of good writing, decent execution and terrific performances despite cheap production values and inferior technical stuff.
