About
your background?
I am basically from Hyderabad and completed my studies here.
I did a course in Hotel Management and worked for Taj group
of Hotels in Hyderabad. That is when I got an offer to act
in Sekhar Kammula's Dollar Dreams.
Later
on I got married and took up a job at BNP Paribas Bank at
Punjagutta. After four years, Sekhar Kammula came up with
Anand script and asked me to do an interesting role. It took
around 5 months to finish the shooting of Anand.
What
is the response you got for your work in Anand?
Actually there is no pre-publicity for my character in Anand.
People did not know me till they saw my character in Anand.
The response has been very good. Only after the release of
the film, people came to know about me.
Do
you get recognized when you move in public?
Yes. I am a kind of girl who rides on bike and goes shopping
for provisions myself. People do recognize me by appearance.
Most of the people recognize me by voice.
Do
you think your voice added more weight to your acting?
Yes. My voice is a great boon, though I don't like it myself.
When
we tried to contact you on the day of Nandi awards announcement,
you were untraceable?
I went to Mumbai along with my family for 15 days of holiday.
We celebrated our kid's birthday over there.
What
is your response for Nandi awards?
I used to watch live programs of Nandi awards for years. And
never had any inkling about me getting one in future. Films
happened to me by accident. Nandi award is more unexpected.
Thrill is an understatement to express my feelings about Nandi.
I am a normal Hyderabadi who just happened to be in the right
film at the right time?
Are
you working for any films now?
I did a small bit in Venkat Kuchipudi's Modati Cinema which
is releasing on 21st of this month. It was nice working with
a talented director like Venkat.
Do
you want to take up the profession of acting seriously?
Yes. People recognized me and I would love to act in many
more films.
What
made your character click in Anand film?
My character in Anand is very close to my real life character.
That character did not demand any heavy or overdramatic histrionics.
Hence I tried to be myself while playing that character and
it worked.
Do
you want to say anything to the visitors of idlebrain.com?
I would love to thank them all for watching Anand film and
liking me. I got lots of friends in USA who visit idlebrain.com
