Hero Rajendra Prasad celebrated his 50th birthday amidst press and media members today morning at Film Nagar Cultural Club. This function was attended by various cultural organizations.

Speaking on the occasion Rajendra Prasad said, “I am against celebrating birthdays and felicitations. I am holding a press meet today because its press and media that stood with me all the time. I never had any background in film industry. The only satisfaction I have today is the kind of recognition I get when I meet Telugu people around the world. I completed my engineering in first class and was looking for job opportunities. That is when I happened to see NTR doing a film titled Tatamma Kala in Vijayawada. Lacs of people thronged to see him at work in Vijayawada. I was amazed with the kind of adulation NTR drew from crowds. That is when I decided that I should become an actor like NTR. When I met NTR and expressed my wish, he told me that I have to take my own decision about how to go about films and I should carve a niche. When I became full fledged hero, there were comedians and they were heroes. I carved a niche for myself as comedy hero - a hero who is dedicated to do comedy in film. I also did serious award winning films like Erra Mandaram and Aa Naluguru. The most fascinating moment in my life was meeting a 60-year old woman who abandoned her Lord Venkateswara darshan in Tirupati to meet me personally. She said that her son died and she wanted to commit suicide. That is when she watched my films and identified her son in me and decided to carry forward her life bravely. People of Andhra treat me like a family member. Late prime minister PV Narasimha Rao publicly stated that he watches my films to relieve himself from work pressure. It is seriousness, dedication and sincerely that made me what I am today. I will carry forward my career with those principles. My film in the direction of Nidhi Prasad will start on 27th of this month.”
