A special set resembling the Sambalpur railway station was
created at the Annapurna Studios, complete with platform,
railings and a near to life rail engine, with stalls thrown
in the sideways.
There
was lot of hungama as dancers in tribal attire and the lead
pair in modern outfits danced to the tunes of RP Patnaik.
All this to film a song for Sri Venkateswara Art Films, Sreeram
directed by VN Aditya. Remake of Tamil hit, Dhill, the film
has Uday Kiran and Anitha in the lead.
Explaining
the scene being shot VN Aditya says, "The heroine works
in a private satellite channel, where is a music and dance
competition is being shot. The hero comes there to give wedding
invitation of his sister to the heroine and joins in the song,
Though the original version did not have a song, we included
one for entertainment. This song starts as Oriya folk and
in the imagination of the lead pair turns into Telugu lyric."
"Though
it's a remake, we have only taken the central plot and made
many changes in the script. Writers Paruchuri brothers bought
in a distinct Telugu flavor. Likewise, RP Patnaik has not
used a single tune from the original version and came up with
a fresh score."
Revealing
the storyline, Aditya says, "This is basically the story
of an ambitious young man. He completes his studies and has
a supportive family. When he falls in love, he does not encounter
any problem from his parents, but trouble arises from unexpected
quarter, the law and order front, which robs him of his happy-go-lucky
lifestyle. How he faces and fights this situation and finally
achieves his goal forms the crux of the theme. The emphasis
is on action and emotions. After the release of this film,
Uday Kiran will get a new image as an all round performer.
The heroine too has a major role to play."
It is not just the lead pair, the others also get to play
interesting roles as well. Asish Vidyarthi plays the super
cop and the villain of the piece. Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao
and Sudha play the parents of the hero. In short, the film
is about the saga of an ordinary man's response to the injustice
meted out to him.
Says
Uday about the film, "It will take me closer to all sections
of audience including the mass audience. As an artist, I have
a challenging role here with a good measure of romance, action
and emotions thrown in the character of Sreeram. Even in the
risky fight sequences, I have not used a dupe and it was a
thrilling experience."
This
film is due for release on 21st June 2002. Tanikella Bharani,
MS Narayana, Sunil, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, Deepa Venkat
are in the cast.
