Story
Siddhu (Sumanth Ashwin) is a smart guy who has been trying to get a girlfriend. All his efforts are spoiled by Chitra (Nanditha). Siddhu doesn't know how Chitra looks like. After a few years, he happens to see a girl and falls in love at first sight. The rest of the story is all about what happens when he realises that the girl he has fallen in love with is none other than his faceless archrival Chitra.
Artists Performance
Actors: Sumanth Ashwin has suited the role well and looks boy next door. Nandita did well. Tejaswi Madivada has got good comedy timing in dialogues and naturality in expressions. Chandini (Kaalicharan fame) has done an important role. Sai Pampana who has made his presence felt in Ee Rojullo and Bus Stop is given a meaty role in this movie. He comes up with an entertaining performance. Saptagiri is becoming a mini Brahmanandam for small films. His cameo as a mad guy who calls himself Magajaathi Aani Muthyam is hilarious. MS Narayana has acted as church father who listens to escapades of hero.
Technical departments
Story - screenplay - direction: This story has a good scope for a novel screenplay like Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde. The screenplay part till interval point is interesting. But the writer didn’t come up with arresting screenplay in the second half, but opted for a ‘mad house’ comedy towards the end. Direction of the film by Harinath is okay. He has succeeded in getting entertainment right in few episodes, but failed in getting the vital emotions/romance completely right.
Other departments: Music by JB is trendy, but a couple of songs are not placed according to situations. Cinematography by Malhar Bhatt is okay. Dialogues written by Maruthi & Harinath are spicy. The dialogues written for Sai Kumar Pampana and Saptagiri are hilarious. Editing should have been more crispy. Production values by Maya Bazaar movies are alright.
Analysis: Lovers is about how two opposite minded people fall in love in a strange situation. Plus points are spicy dialogues and entertainment provided by Saptagiri and Sai Kumar Pampana. A better handling of romance/emotions coupled with an arresting screenplay in second half is needed for an impressive output. I loved ‘maga jaathi aani muthyam’ characterization for Saptagiri (though it’s all about female bashing). We have to wait and see how Telugu movie lovers brace this movie.
