Rakta Charitra 2
This is probably the first time that a film maker has made two parts with a single story released within a month of each other. After watching RC-1 there was lot of expectations on RC-2 and as a person born and bought in Rayalaseema and known this story, I wanted to check out what is in store in RC-2. RC-1 was all about build up to the story and about how Pratap has come long way to become a political leader from a common man. In showing the entire process of Pratap's growth we saw lot of killings and there are people who hated the film for its violence. While RC-1 is about Pratap's rise RC-2 is about enmity and vengeance.
Vengeance is a very powerful emotion and this is probably the first time we are seeing a movie which has presented vengeance and made an unbelievable impression. The film is about Vivek Oberoi and Surya and their enmity. The narration could be slow but the expressions are intense. While the part-1 belonged to Vivek Oberoi and Abhimanyu Singh, Part-2 totally belonged to Surya. This guy has probably the best eyes an actor had in recent times and he could emote so well. Amol Rathod 's cinematography and Dharam- Sandeep's background music added to the power in surya's eyes are there are times when you feel hatred in his eyes and empathize. I guess if we could feel what the film maker wanted to say and empathies, the film maker is successful and RGV is successful with this movie. Since this movie has relatively less action/violent scenes, RGV chose to show violence with eyes. With Radhika Apte and Priyamani supporting them both Vivek and Surya excelled in portraying the emotions. The revelation of sorts is Priyamani who though a national award winner was always shown as a dancing doll. She has played her part very well as Bhawani, Surya's wife. While RGV took liberties in terms of time lines in RC-1, RC-2 looked more authentic to me. The actions scenes are choreographed well and looked natural. Background music is not as jarring as it was in part-1. Widely criticized camera angles helped establish scenes well.
We have seen many directors from longtime who have made beautiful movies on love. It is very difficult to film vengeance with the passion love is filmed and I think RGV is proven that he is the master craftsman in film making.
