Sumanth’s latest film Madhumasam is due for the release on 9 February. Idlebrain.com met him at ANR house today evening for chitchat. Sumanth is wearing French beard and looking totally different. Here are the excerpts of an exclusive chitchat with Sumanth -

What is your take on Chinnodu’s result?
The release time was bad and Andhra was affected by floods then. There was oldness in the content of the film. It was a reasonably decent film. It was a commission earner and a minimum guarantee film.

Tell us about Madhumasam?
It is a love story between a practical guy and sentimentally attached girl. The story of this film is in the lines of Bharya Bhartalu (ANR), Pavitra Bandham (Venkatesh) and Swayam Varam (Venu). Compared to the above mentioned films, there is slickness in the hero characterization. Madhumasam is a very urbane, yuppie and metro sexual film.

What exactly the title Madhumasam signify?
Madhumasam denotes spring and the season of love.

Tell us about heroines of Madhumasam?

Sneha: I am working with Sneha for the first time. I liked her in Radha Gopalam and Sri Ramadasu. We do not have many heroines who can do these kind of roles. Soundarya left a big void in Telugu film industry. Sneha is slowly filling that void.

Parvati Melton: She is the trump card of the film. She donned a flirtatious character. She is like a lady Casanova with positive outlook.

Its been years since D Rama Naidu produced a hit film. What is the reason behind you acting in Suresh Productions?
My assumption is that with his involvement in politics, he could not spare quality time for films. He is very determined now and he is hungry for success. He did not skin tone of technicians. We got a top notch technical team for Madhumasam. Suresh Babu helped in story discussions. Madhumasam is a collective effort. You will see a lot of difference in the film.

Chandra Siddardha’s Aa Naluguru did not have commercial entertainment. Did you take any steps towards it?
Chandra Siddhardh is a class director. The humor in the film is generated through situations. They also shot separate comedy tracks. I am not sure if they are going to keep them or discard them in the final copy. There is always an undercurrent humor in hero and heroine characters of Madhumasam.

What is the USP of Madhumasam?
There is no violence in Madhumasam. That is the USP. It is going to be a breath of fresh air compared to films of this season which are infested with violence.

What is the progress of Classmates?
Talkie part is almost over. Producer is planning to release the film on 20 April.

What are you doing these days other than acting?
I don’t find much time these days. I go to gym 3 times a week. I am setting up my home theater. I am planning take my vacation to visit USA for a month after the release of Classmates.

When are you going to direct films?
I completed 4-year course in direction. Right now I am busy in acting. I don’t want to mix things here. I am still on the learning curve as director. I keep learning from directors like Vijaya Bhaskar. When I feel confident and mature enough, then I will definitely direct films. There is still a long way to go to pick up the mike.
