Story

Akash Narayan (Ravi Teja) is a wayward guy from a family that aspires to be an ideal one. He is forced to go and see a girl (Aksha) for a marriage alliance. He likes her, but she has grander plans. She wants to marry a guy who is famous. Being an intelligent guy, he devices a mechanism to become a famous. In the process, he become a trusted lieutenant of the home minister. He becomes famous and starts appearing newspapers and TV news channels. Rest of the story is about his hidden agenda and how intelligently he achieved it.

Artists Performance

Actors: Ravi Teja is highly energetic with his body language, expressions and dialogue delivery. The stunts he has done for this film are good. The character in this film uses his strengths very well. Tamanna is introduced in the middle of the film and she is nice. Rashi Khanna is cute and looking at her best in this movie. Nice to see Aksha in a vital role though it’s a special appearance. Harsha Vardhan Rane did a cameo. Boman Irani appears in a Telugu film after a long gap and he is perfect as chief minister. It’s a cake walk for Rao Ramesh and Sayaji Shinde. Posani Krishna Murali entertains as an elder man who is still virgin. Pruthvi is good as ‘future star’ - an aspiring film star. He is growing big with each film and he is being used for film spoofs (Loukyam, Sankarabharanam, Bengal Tiger & Soukhyam) most of the times. Brahmanandam is alright as an enthusiastic TV journalist. Shakalaka Shankar is growing more familiar with crowds as his movies and screen time gets bigger and better. Satyam Rajesh and Vennela Rama Rao played buddies of Ravi Teja. Nagineedu and Tanikella Bharani suited their roles.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film has two angles where hero has a hidden agenda. The interval point is good and is unexpected. Director Sampath Nandi targeted mainly masses with ample action sequences and entertaining dialogues. Screenplay of the film is interesting if you don’t have prior information about story. Sampath Nandi has chosen entertainment route while delivering the film. The climax fight of the film appears dragged as the conflict between hero and villain ends in pre-climax episode. The ‘chitikela’ mannerism by Ravi Teja and Pruthvi goes well with audiences.

Other departments: Music by Bheems is alright. I personally liked Bengal Tiger title song and Raye Raye song (with two heroines) on screen. Soundararajan who gave classy visuals with Billa film has given colorful visuals for this movie. His work is good. The mud fight is aesthetically shot. Dialogues written by Sampath Nandi are good with punch dialogues (salary talent ki istaru, experience ki kaadu etc) . Action sequences are conceived well (outer ring road fight and mud climax fight). Editing by Gowtham Raju is okay. Production values by KK Radha Mohan are grand.

Analysis: First half of the film is nice with Ravi Teja character growth shown in an interesting way. Second half has mass orientation with mind fight between Ravi Teja and Boman Irani. Plus points of the film are Ravi Teja’s superb energetic performance, dialogues by Sampath Nandi and mass orientation. On the flip side, climax appears prolonged. There are plenty of references to Pawan Kalyan in the movie. Director Sampath knows the pulse of masses which evident from his two previous films (Yemaindi Ee Vela and Racha). On a whole, Bengal Tiger is a Ravi Teja’s entertainment masala film with a lot of mass orientation.
