Review

Story
Krishna Dev a.k.a KD (Adivi Sesh) is an investigative officer of SP cadre in Vizag for HIT. He comes across a strange case of where the girl victim is mutilated in a gruesome manner. He along with his assistant Varsha (Komalee Prasad) start collecting clues and making moves. Just when they thought they cracked the cake, they found a bigger roadblock. Rest of the story is about how KD cracks the case and finds out the serial killer.

Artists Performance

Adivi Sesh has used a stern body language for the character of KD and it worked very well. His good physique did also give believability to the character of a savior cop. His dialogue delivery and histrionics are different from his earlier films and he brought freshness to the characterization with his performance. Meenakshi Chaudhary is good as the lady interest. Komalee Prasad is impressive in the character of an investigating officer who wants to impress her boss. Rao Ramesh is pretty good and in a scene he makes us realize why he is a great actor with a slight pause during a dialogue. Posani Krishna Murali is competent in a brief yet vital role. Suhas is good in a casual role. Maganti Srinadh who is also seen in HIT 1 is fine. Tanikella Bharani, Geetha Bhascker etc are fine.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: HIT 2 is not just a whodunnit kind of film like HIT 1. This movie has other aspects like family (both hero and heroine have families) and there is no orphanage concept. There is also a strong backstory to the serial killer. There are certain principles for the killers as well, which makes the story more interesting. And there is a payoff to the serial killer’s backstory which the protagonist uses cleverly to save himself. Director and writer Sailesh Kolanu who wrote the script of HIT 1 organically has added some other aspects to increase the span of the HIT 2 and make it more reachable to audiences. The climax of this film is satisfactory compared to part 1. The way cat-and-mouse play between KD and killer is well written. The director also connected a couple of scenes with Vikram Rudraraju (HIT 1) and introduced the hero of HIT 3 as well. Despite the short runtime, there are a few dull moments (especially hero-heroine interaction part of it). Though most of the story is told in an engaging way, there are not many shocking/wow moments in the film (the best shocking moment is already revealed in the teaser). Director Sailesh does a better job than HIT 1 and promises another cracking film with the introduction of male lead of HIT 3.

Other departments: The best technical aspect of the film is background music. Music director John Stewart Eduri has given exciting and apt bgm. Cinematography by Manikandan.S is very good. I liked the way cool colors and warm colors are used in the first half and the second half respectively (color grading). Dialogues are good. Production design by Manisha A. Dutt is good. Editing by Garry B.H is fine. Production Values and by Wallposter Cinema have been consistently excellent since Awe film.

Analysis: HIT 2 is bigger and better compared to HIT 1. It’s a murder investigation thriller dealt in an engaging fashion. The director has written in such a way that it appeals to audiences despite graphic depiction (hence A certificate). There is a controversial dialogue during cop-killer faceoff which is morally objectionable. But works for the film as it throws the killer off-balance. Despite a couple of hiccups, HIT 2 is a film that works for its interesting narration. Sesh has become a dependable brand in Telugu film industry as he delivers 5 box office winners in a row as a solo hero. On the whole, HIT 2 film is definitely worth a watch!
