Review

Story
Sree (Allu Sirish) belongs to a conservative middle class family. He works in a software company and he falls for his colleague Sindhu (Anu Emmanuel) - a forward-thinking liberal girl. They become closer and develop a relationship. Sree is in love, but Sindhu thinks sex as a casual thing, but not an endorsement for love. They decide to live-in. Rest of the story is about the clash of liberal/conservative thinking.

Artists Performance

Allu Sirish looks good. His styling is perfect. He has carried the role of a conservative, innocent and pure-at-the-heart with ease. Anu Emmanuel suited the character well and performed effortlessly. Sunil provides entertainment with his type of dialogue delivery. Vennela Kishore is entertaining as a colleague/friend of the hero. His web-series based punches worked well with the urban crowds. Aamani performed a relatable character with aplomb. Kedar Shankar looks a little sophisticated for the role of an electrician. Posani Krishna Murali is his usual self. Pruthvi is good as the heroine’s father.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: This film is an official remake of Tamil film Pyar Premaa Kaadhal (2018). This movie is a faithful remake of the original except for a thread. Director Rakesh Sashii does a fair job in writing entertaining scenes. He has made sure that characters like Sunil and Vennela Kishore constantly interact with the hero character and generate humor. There is generous dosage of liplocks in the film which is rare in the Telugu cinema industry. Though the director succeeds in the entertainment aspect, the love part and the sentiment part should have been more compelling. The final misunderstanding scene in the dance show looks immature (all the hero has to say is that his mother is in the hospital) and the scenes that follow later appear extended.

Other departments: Songs in the film are good on ears. Background music is alright. Cinematography by Tanveer Mir is excellent. The way he used colors and framing is worthy of appreciation. Dialogues are good (especially entertaining ones). Editing is okay. Production design is good. Production values are neat.

Analysis: Urvasivo Rakshasivo is a remake that works partly. Plus points of the film are casting, entertainment and music/cinematography. On the flipside, the emotional part is not impactful enough. The climax and pre-climax looks dragged. On a whole, Urvasivo Rakshasivo is a reasonable rom-com, but falls short due to the way the last part of the film was handled.
