Review

Story
Venky (Venkatesh) is a broker at RTA. His family consists of a few unmarried sisters, father and a step-mother. Varun (Varun Tej) is a small-time conman. Both Venky and Varun aim to become rich through shortcuts and they look out for opportunity. Harika (Tamanna) and Honey (Mehreen) are sisters from a middle-class greedy family. They run a tiffin center and are looking to make quick money through scams. CI Prasad (Rajendra Prasad) is a sincere cop, but his hard work is misused by the commissioner. Prasad decides to take revenge by using Venky and Varun to steal the commissioner's illegal wealth and it goes wrong. Venky, Varun and Prasad are in desperate need of money to save their lives. Anand Prasad (Murali Sharma) is a billionaire and he gives an advertisement inviting his lost son to come home. Rest of the story is all about how this quadruple team enters the house of Anand Prasad and makes things happen.

Artists Performance

Venkatesh is again terrific after his hilarious performance in the F2 movie. He is a true entertainer when he dons such roles with such a comedy/entertainment perspective. Though he is a huge star, he didn’t let his standom come in his way to portray a few scenes which would be objected by other stars of his stature. He is a treat to watch. Varun Tej is good with novel mannerism for stammering. Rajendra Prasad is pretty good as an honest cop turned rogue. Tamanna and Mehreen are good as leading ladies. Sonal Chauhan did a cameo role. Murali Sharma plays a vital role, Sunil is very entertaining as the sidekick of Varun Tej. Vennela Kishore is entertaining as pan-India junior artist. Ali plays the role of a don who is a women-devotee. Satya is good in a brief role. Sampath Raj is okay. Ramana Goparaju is hilarious as the father of Venky.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: Anil Ravipudi comes up with a story that has many shades of comedy films from the 80's and 90’s (especially EVV style comedy stories). He has treated the film with sole intention of making laughs by connecting disjointed threads. He has succeeded in getting laughs in a few comic threads (tatayya tatayya ho thread and venkatrao pellani choosa) in the first half. In the second half, there are a couple of scenes (Venky dancing to an old song and telling a story to a bull) where it worked. Tamannah’s part in the 2nd half didn’t work. The climax of the film offers some variety (EVV & Rohit Shetty style) where characters from OTT movies/series pop up. He satisfied all fans by paying tribute to the majority of stars of current Telugu cinema. Screenplay is not good enough. Anil Ravipudi blindly trusted his instincts and directed this film. The story in the entire second half looks farce, though it’s intentional.

Other departments: Music by Devi Sri Prasad is in tune with the theme of the film. Pooja Hedge special song is well composed and well shot with Govinda signature steps in it. Cinematography by Sai Sriram is okay. Dialogues written by Anil Ravipudi serve the entertainment purpose. Editing is okay. Production design is average. Production values are alright.

Analysis: F2 film worked big time because of the frustration angle of husband/lover shown in the film. There was a lot of fun generated out of the frustration of leading men in the film. The F3 film has a fresh story with the same mannerisms and woven around the concept of greed for quick money. Director Anil Ravipudi succeeded in comic scenes of the film, thanks to the terrific comedy timing by Venky. But, we expect a better story and better scenes for a sequel of F2. On the whole, F3 film works in parts despite drawbacks.
