Sushant – grandson of ANR and Subba Rao (Prasad Art Pictures) – is making his debut as hero with the film Kalidasu. This film is releasing all over Andhra on 11 of April. Idlebrain.com had chitchat with the producers Chintalapudi Srinivas and Naga Suseela (daughter of ANR). Here are the excerpts of chitchat –

What is your reaction when Sushant expressed his desire to act in films?
Naga Suseela: Sushant has been a quite guy since childhood though he has been fascinated by films. I tried to discourage him when he expressed his willingness to act in films during his graduation time. I asked him to complete the graduation first. He asked me again after completing graduation and I had to honor my word.

What is the reason behind keeping your banner name as Sri Nag Corporation?
Srinivas: Sri stands for my name and Nag stands for Naga Suseela (also Nageswara Rao and Nagarjuna).

Why did you select Sushant as hero?
Srinivas: I was impressed by the show reel done on Sushant during his acting training days at Mumbai.

What is the involvement of Nagarjuna in this film?
Naga Suseela: Nagarjuna is there with us right from the start of the project. He is the one who okayed the storyline. He also gave a valuable suggestion about shooting. Since Sushant is new, Nagarjuna suggested us to split the entire shoot into six schedules and let each schedule take place for 15 days a month. It gives some time to Sushant to be more perfect in his work.

How is Sushant as an actor?
Srinivas: He worked like a veteran. He did an amazing job.
Naga Susheela: We observed improvement from day to day. .

What is your involvement as producer?
Srinivas: I gave the story and screenplay. I worked as a journalist for 10 years in Eenadu. And my experience over there helped me as a writer too. I used some of my real life experiences to pen a few hard hitting scenes in this film. I can confidently say that 80% of the scenes in this film are going to be fresh. My journalistic point of view helped it.
Naga Suseela: I designed the costumes of Sushant apart being the producer of this film.

Tell us about the director?
Director worked with Selvamani and Priyadarshan in the past. He also worked for several projects by Supergood banner.

What about songs and fights?
There are six songs in the film and all songs help the narration of story. Kanal Kannan composed six fights. He is so much impressed that he hugged Sushant three times.

Who gave the idea of novel ad concept for Kalidasu?
Nagarjuna wanted us to do a different campaign. But it was D Suresh Babu who asked us to consider a campaign similar to that of ‘Puli Rajaku AIDS vastunda?’ which created lots of curiosity among the public. The response for this ad campaign had been terrific. We also held a treasure hunt in association with Radio Mirchi.

When is the film releasing?
We are going to release the film on 11 April with over 80 prints. It is an expensive film and we are going to release it on our own through Suresh Movie distributors. Kalidasu is a mass entertainer.
