Story
Balu (Sree Vishnu) works in a cinema hall. He is a very responsible son who takes care of the entire family. Sarayu (Reba Monica John) joins as a paying guest in Balu’s house. Due to a disappointing incident in college time, Balu decides to tie Rakhi to all the girls who show interest in him. Strangely, he falls in love with Sarayu. Rest of the story is about what happens when Thadastu Devathalu bless him when he tries to tie Rakhi to the heroine.
Artists Performance
Sree Vishnu has put on a bit of weight for this film and it works well for his looks. Sree Vishnu has always portrayed himself as a guy who limits himself while delivering a dialogue. But, in this film he has a very good flow in dialogue delivery. He has improved tremendously in spontaneity in his acting in this movie. You will see a new Sree Vishnu with improved comedy timing and good dialogue delivery. Reba Monica John is decent as the female lead. Naresh’s character is written in a hilarious way and he is excellent as father of the hero in an entertainment-driven role. Vennela Kishore entertains as a ‘caste fanatic’ with somewhat loud-acting. Sreekanth Iyengar is good. Sudarshan is very good as the hero’s buddy. Raghu Babu is very entertaining though his role is small. Rajeev Kanakala gets another key role in this movie.
Story - screenplay - direction: Story given by Bhanu Bogavarapu offers freshness with a novel conflict point. Screenplay by Ram Abbaraju is decent. Though a relatively new director (he made his OTT debut with Vivaha Bhojanambu and this is his big screen debut), he has done well enough to get things right. Especially in the comedy/entertainment department. It’s very difficult to create comedy with freshness and Ram Abbaraju succeeded really well in the first half. The entire first half is fresh and hilarious. However, the story writer chose to delve into family orientation in the second (we had seen several films with family orientation in the past). Second half, though okay, is a little slow. There are a few hilarious situations in the 2nd half as well. The director Ram Abbaraju (for comic timing and entertainment sense) and writing team of this film are the ones to look out for as they have a fresh sense of comedy (best use of memes without looking cliched).
Other departments: Dialogues written by Nandu Savirigana are highlights of the film. Dialogues are funny and fresh. Background music and songs by Gopi Sundhar are good. ‘Humsafar’ is a very classy and lovable song. However, ‘What To Do’ in the 2nd half is out of sync with the texture of the film. Cinematography by Raam Reddy is pretty good. Editing by Chota K Prasad is good. Art direction by Brahma Kadali is fine. Production values by Ak Entertainments and Hasya Movies are decent.
Analysis: Samajavaragamana is an entertainer from the word go. It’s very difficult to make an entertaining film with freshness. Thanks to the writing and direction, Samajavaragama shines very well in the first half with a lot of comedy scenes which are not separate tracks, but go with the story. Second half has a family orientation with comedy scenes. Plus points are story, dialogues, direction and entertainment. It’s a kind of film that works well for USA Telugu crowds as well as it has comedy and family elements in abundance. I recommend Samajavaragamana for everybody for the entertainment/comedy it provides. Go and watch it!
