Krishna (Prabhudeva) works in an advertising company in Mumbai. He is fascinated by modern girls and want to fall in love with one of such girls. When he goes to his hometown, he is forced to marry a village girl Devi (Tamannaah). When he takes her back to Mumbai, he treats her indefinitely. Everything changes when she is taken to a Telugu film awards function that takes place in Mumbai. She becomes possessed and gets obsessed with the star Raj (Sonu Sood). Rest of the story is all about what happened to Devi and how Krishna wins her back from the clutches of a devil!
Actors: Prabhudeva has comedy in-built in his body language and he makes the best use of it. His different hair style also helps. He has done excellently in emotional scenes. This movie belongs to Tamannah who has shown variations between Devi and Ruby in a contrasting way. This is probably the best movie for Tamannah in terms of performance. Sonu Sood is perfect for the role of star who falls in love with Devi. Saptagiri entertains though he appears loud at times. Pruthvi does a cameo as occult practitioner. All other actors are from Tamil. 
Story - screenplay - direction: The main reason for making a horror comedy is that it can be completed in limited budget. Horror comedies also does have high success rate. Contrary to other horror films, AL Vijay who is an established film director in Tamil made sure that he narrated the film in classic way of storytelling. Most of the horror comedies are made in amateurish style with the sole intention of creating thrills and horror effects. The director didn’t depend solely on creating horror effects, but dwelled more on telling story in an interesting way. He made sure that there is ample humor in the narration. I loved the way the inner feelings of Prabhudeva are shown visually! 
Other departments: Cinematography by Manush Nandan is visually rich. Songs scored by Sajid-Wajid, GV Prakash and Vishal Mishra are peppy (especially the signature tune of Prabhudeva’s solo song). Background music is also fine. Dialogues penned by Kona Venkat and Sathya are of good standard. Choreography for Prabhu Deva’s solo song is very creative. Editing is good. Production values are grand for a film of this genre. 
Analysis: Horror Comedy is an abused genre in Telugu mainly because everybody can afford to do one for being a low-budget genre. We get to see only few films with good content and good standards. Abhinetri is one such kind of film that works based on its content, not just because of the thrills and fear factor. Plus points are casting and classic style of narration. On the flip side, this film is a dubbing film with no male lead belonging to Telugu origin though they are familiar with Telugu people. On a whole, Abhinetri is not just a horror film and there is more to it!
