Review

Story
Komaaiah (Satyam Rajesh) escapes to Kerala after feigning his death back home. His brother investigates and tells the truth to Komaraiah’s wife Lachimi (Bhaskarla Kamakshi) and a close friend Balija (get-up Seenu). There is a new cop (Rakendu Mouli) in the village who is hellbent on opening the case again and pursuing it. When Balija goes to Sabarimalai, he encounters Komaraiah who is onto doing bigger occult practices. The Archaeology department gets information that there is a hidden treasure in the abandoned temple of Komaraiah’s village. Rest of the story is all about why Komaraiah is doing mysterious things and his relations to the temple.

Artists Performance

Satyam Rajesh is very good as the man who believes and performs occult practices. Bhaskarla Kamakshi is good with deglamorized make-up. Rakendu Mouli who is not there in the part one is given a big role in this film. Get-up Seenu is pretty good as a loyal friend to the hero. Sahithi Dasari has an extended role and she justified her character. Baladitya who is crucial in part one doesn't have much footage in part 2. Bablu Pruthviraj makes an entry towards climax and he will be seen in the next part of the film in a vital role. Director Karunakumar has played a cameo of occult practitioner. The man who played the hero’s uncle (one with occult practice) has performed well. Chitram Seenu is good in an important role.

Story - screenplay - direction: Anil Viswanath who surprised everybody with the story and screenplay (especially a couple of twists) in part one has made sure that there are plenty of surprises and twists in the part 2. The climax twist of part 1 is logically explained in part 2. He has maintained the suspense factor till the climax and driven the narration with an interesting screenplay. He seems to have done some research on temples’ history and occult practices. And integrated some interesting aspects in the narration. Temple (and archeology department) is the added angle to part 1. However, the narration is slow at times. The climax of the film looks like an extended one (song with the heroine and the scene of the heroine going to Chitram Seenu’s place). However, the director has figured out how to use black-magic/occult techniques to aid his screenplay. He can bring back dead people alive and also he can make us believe that people who are alive are actually dead.

Other departments: Cinematography by Khushender Ramesh Reddy is decent. Background music by Gyaani is good. Dialogues written by Anil Viswanath are pretty good and some of them are well-researched. Editing by Sri Vaara is fine. Art direction by Upendra Reddy Chanda is natural. Production values are grand compared to part 1.

Analysis: Maa Oori Polimera part 2 is released theatrically after the success of part 1 on OTT. Director Anil Viswanath who has done a good work with the part one has made sure that the story in part 2 has a lot of seeds sowed in the part one. He has cleverly used black magic and occult techniques to the screenplay so that he alters the characters and logically deceives the audiences to believe something else. The climax of the film shows two characters being killed. However, with the experience of watching part 2, I wouldn't be surprised if one or both characters come back alive in part 3. The narration is a little slow and the climax looks extended. Despite being “A” certified film and despite having some issues, Maa Oori Pelimera has elements to thrill the masses and is a preferable film to those who love these kinds of thrillers.
