Bhanumati (Sai Pallavi) belongs to a middle class family in Banswada, Telangana. Varun (Varun Tej) is settled in USA with his brothers. Varun’s brother marries Bhanumati’s sister. Varun and Bhanumati like each other during the time of their siblings marriage. When they are about express their inner feelings, a misunderstanding separates them. Rest of the story is all about how their clear the misunderstanding off and realise that they are made for each other.
Actors: Varun Tej is natural in this movie. He seems to have put an a bit of weight and it shows up. He brings purity and lovability to his character with his work. Sai Pallavi steals your hearts again with Fidaa after Malayalam’s classic Premam. She is superb as a bindaas Telangana girl. She dubbed her voice and her Telangana diction is perfect. She scorches the screens with her magical performance. She is an excellent dancer too. NRI kid Aryan Talla is adorable in a full length role. Raja (son of Sirivennela) fits the role well. Saichand is authentic as father of heroine. Satyam Rajesh provides entertainment in few scenes of second half. Harshavardhan Rane does a cameo and he is nice. Saranya is very good as heroine’s elder sister. Geetha Bhaskar who played maternal aunt to heroine is genuine. 
Story - screenplay - direction: Fidaa is not about story, but about emotions and moments. The first misunderstanding reminds us of the misunderstanding in Toli Prema film. The way hero and heroines fight, and the way hero try to create jealousy in heroine by hanging around with another girl remind us of Kushi (I am mentioning these two films because the makers have said in music launch function that the movie will remind us of Toliprema and Kushi). Sekhar Kammula who has gone off-color in recent films is in his elements for Fidaa. There is so much of sensitivity and purity in the characters. He has made sure that there is enough entertainment generated mostly through the attitude and dialogues of heroine’s character. Director has made sure that he has established all characters in a lovely way in the first half. However, most of the second half dwells in quarrels between lead pair. Climax appears abrupt as Harshavardhan’s character doesn’t have an ending. Sekhar Kammula’s films are all about strong women characters. There is righteousness as well as mischief to the character of Bhanumati and it’s brilliantly written.
Other departments: Shaktikanth’s songs are very good. I loved Vachinde, Hey Pillagada and Oosu Podu songs in that order. All songs are wonderfully shot. Background music is also good. Cinematography by Vijay C Kumar is pleasing to eyes as he captures two vastly different backdrops (Telangana village and USA). Art Direction by Rajeev Nair is good. Dialogues written by Sekhar Kammula are excellent. Dialogues written to heroine are full of attitude and entertainment. Editing by Marthad K Venkatesh is very good, but there are a few loose ends towards climax. Production values by Sri Venkateswara Creations are very good.
Analysis: First half of the film is very good as Sekhar Kammula sets up the plot and make us travel with the characters in Banswada. Second half has less of story and most of the scenes appear repetitive. Yet, Sekhar makes sure that a few of scenes between hero and heroine are entertaining. Plus points of the film are writing, characterization of heroine and strong emotions. On the flipside, there are a few issues in the latter part of second half. After Pelli Choopulu, here comes another film that makes Telangana dialect and culture a trend! On a while, Fidaa has strong emotions with nicely sprinkled humor. You may watch it!
