Sapan started his career as a tutor and converged into direction. He worked with Ashta Chemma team in the past before making his debut as director with Pappu. Here is the chitchat -

Background
I did AMIET and then started my career as software faculty. I trained around 5000 students in between 1998 and 2002. I trained the employees of Sahara India and SBH in computers. I love teaching field and I do teach maths and computers even today. I am passionate about movies since childhood.

My brother introduced me to the producer of a film titled Thanks (starring Vineeth and Srinath). I joined that movie during postproduction stage. Then I worked as an assistant director for a movie titled Gopi (Godameda Pilli) directed by Janardhan Maharshi. My third movie was Ashta Chemma for which I worked as an associate director. I leant a lot about pre-production and post-production during the making of Ashta Chemma. It changed my way of thinking. That movie proved that you could make an interesting movie with simple story.

About Pappu:
I prepared the subject of Pappu and narrated it to the producers Nagesh Yada and Praveen Reddy. They liked it and came forward to produce it. It is a simple story that everybody could relate to. Lots of people felt cheated when luck doesn’t favour them. This film tells about taking setbacks in our stride as we inch towards our goal. Hard work is more productive than believing in luck.

Lead characters of Pappu
Krishnudu plays the role of a corporate employee who falls in love with his boss’s daughter Dipika. Krishnudu is a pessimist with negative thoughts. Subbaraju plays the role of a positive guy. The story is about how these two guys of contrasting outlook are forced to travel together for the sake of heroine.

Working for Pappu:
It gave me lot of practical experience and I enjoying doing it. The producers are like friends and they encouraged me. If you are good and sincere, the entire team will cooperate with us.

Parallels between teaching and directing:
Just like we teach classes to students, we tell the story to audiences. If you are a good teacher in academics, it will definitely help you in directing movies. This is my personal opinion.

Future projects:
I have signed two more films. I will announce the details in a week.
