Open letter to Shankar (boys)

Dear Shankar!

I am Vijay from Germany. This Open letter is with regarding your latest release "BOYS"(for Gals) and want to share some of the feelings which I had after watching the movie "BOYS". I am fan of all good movies and yours because you made all good and nice movies. I believe you are a person who thinks proactively.

First I felt very bad while reading reviews in various web sites and also lots people from India told me that we didn't expected such movie from Shankar. I am disappointed with such kind of responses and I was very eager to know the reason myself.

Recently I got Tamil "BOYS"(for Gals) CD from a SriLankan friend. I started watching with lot of excitement and I felt liking the movie immensely. It is very practical, near to life and real movie which I haven't seen in recent times. First of all I want to thank you for making such a movie.

Lot of people compared "BOYS" with lots of pervious movies which were made in both Tamil and Telugu. May be some of the scenes are looking similar but your is different. Those(compared movies) are having only vulgar but your "BOYS" is vulgar with a good message. You have showed the Bachelor life in very realistic manner. I even didn't understood the critics who praised your pervious movie went on criticizing you latest "BOYS". But Jeevi who is the critic of Idlebrain site gave good rating. Which added a bet of happy to my feelings.

As a well wisher I want to let you know some of my feelings which I gone through while watching "BOYS". Here I mention only the things which have a scope of improving outcome of "BOYS".

Scope for improvement:

- In this movie who have showed the parents as villains. Yes 80% of parents in India don't understand there kids. But there are 20% of parents who understands. When you showed parents in -ve way you can also showed them in +ves way. Like instead of Vivek character there should have parents character who understands children feelings. Then this movie have been a universal accepted movie instead of only youth movie.

- The lyrics of the songs are pretty good but 2 songs are really not good i.e. "Ale Ale" and "Boom Boom". Especially "Boom Boom" which is pathetic. Now a day people are talking of everything regarding a movie like direction, photography, screenplay, music, lyrics etc... Hope you got my point.

- I don't know how you(and AM Rathnam) are promoting the movie in televisions and through other media. But the punch line must be "If you want to know and understand your children watch BOYS without your BOYS n Girls". Or "Want to see your children successful watch BOYS without your BOYS and Girls". This will have great impact on the movie.

- I came to know in Tamilnadu some women organizations are protesting against screening of "BOYS". If possible have a open debate with them to make the things clear. I know you don't need to answer each and everyone but you make movies depending upon your real life experiences and shares those thoughts through movies. You have done with your job but to have more impact please do have an open debate which will have great impact on other parents.

Suggestion(s): May be I am not a eligible to give.

- After watching the "BOYS" I feel you have targeted only youth. Is it affordable to spend 22 crs for a youth targeted movie? Please think over it again for your future movies.

- Your movies are always done in more then one language. So why don't you take artists from other languages too? Please make a mix of stars from your future movies.

- Before starting a movie please do little bit of homework on the recent movies which were released so that your movie looks different and fresh.

To conclude this open letter I want to tell you and all the visitors of Idlebrain that it's only my opinion and I apologize in advance if it's hurts anybody feelings.

Break the rules and secret of success is to make mistakes. Shankar you are great. All the best.
