At the age of 23, this ambitious lad Ranjith Belluri makes his debut as director with ‘U & I’ movie. This movie sounds more interesting because of the bold caption ‘Love, Sex and Suicide’.

Background
I am basically from Hyderabad and I did my schooling and engineering here. I went to USA to do masters. I worked there for one and half years before coming here to do ‘U and I’ movie.

I went to Mexico during my stay for some official work. The Telugu guys who were staying in the same hotel informed me that they met a guy who was interested in producing Telugu films. I got hold of his number from them. I called up Ravinder Kumar Thota and met him in USA. He liked the story and came forward to produce the movie.

What is U and I movie all about?
It is the journey of two contrastingly extreme characters. He is an introvert and she is an extrovert. He is slow and she is fast. He is insecure and she is flamboyant. It is a college movie that deals with student’s life. I shot the movie in a limited budget in authentic locations of Hyderabad.

You have an interesting tagline ‘Love, Sex, and Suicide’?
Love, Sex and Suicide are three acts of ‘U & I’ movie. This movie is about a second chance in life.

Tell us about the actors?
Rohan is my classmate in Engineering and we stayed together in USA. I used to shoot some videos and keep them on Youtube for fun. Rohan used to act in those videos. I made spoof on Bommarillu as ‘Masters Pellam’ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jZMguuWWhw ) and kept it on youtube. It got really popular. Main female lead Aditi Chowdary and second female lead Alisha.

How difficult is to make a small budget movie?
It is not difficult if we plan it well. Most of the work is done during the post-production stage. I am a good quality movie in really low budget. However releasing a small-budgeted movie is very difficult. The dubbing films get better theatres than straight small budgeted movies.

What is the reason prolonged delay of the release?
U and I film was ready by September last year. We could able to release now because of non-availability of proper theatres.

How old are you?
I was 23 years old when U & I was launched and now I am 25. I am still like a student. That’s why I prefer making college movie. The dialogues in my movie are casual and catchy.

What is your next project?
It is going to be a political drama set in the backdrop of college. It deals with college politics. We are in the pre-production stage of that movie now.
