Jai, Lava and Kusa are triplets. Their maternal uncle makes them work for mythological stage dramas (mostly Ramayana) when they were kids. Jai has a stuttering problem which prevents him to act in plays. Lava and Kusa flourish in plays. Their popularity coupled with mistreatment makes Jai jealous of them. Jai starts harboring negative feelings for his brothers. They seperate in a fire accident. Lava settles as a decent man with a job of bank manager. Kusa settles as a conman and thief. Jai becomes villainous and becomes the most hated and powerful person in a small town. Rest of the story is all about what happens when they accidentally meet!
NTR: NTR proves yer again why he is the best actor. He comes up with fabulous work in three characters. He is adorable as Lava who is a righteous guy. His portrayal of Kusa character is entertaining. It’s Jai who walks away with honors. I have seen people clapping and whistling more for Jai introduction than Lava and Kusa. Being a mainstream hero and doing a negative character and getting such an absolute response for negative character is a dream come true for any actor. He has shown clear variations among three characters in first half. However, most of the second half takes place where all three characters have the same look.
Others: Rashi Khanna plays love interest of Lava and she is fine. Nivetha Thomas who had meaty roles in Gentleman and Ninnu Kori is restricted to a limited role in this film. You can’t expect heroines to have much part to play when NTR is doing three characters. Sai Kumar plays a pivotal role. Posani Krishna Murali provides some relief. Nanditha Raj does a small part. Ronit Roy plays main baddie. Abhimanyu Singh, Harish Uttaman and Pradeep Rawat play other important roles. The kid who did Jal Lava Kusa’s flashback is very talented. Priyadarshi plays a small role and Tamanna does an item song.
Story - screenplay - direction: The basic storyline of triplets and one of them turning bad to take revenge on others is a promising one. However, we find treatment to be old. Director Bobby has come out with an interesting characterization for Jai. He made sure that he sticks to story in the pre-climax and climax of the film without giving in for populistic demands. Screenplay of the film should have been more interesting. 
Other departments: Dialogues written by Bobby are good. Cinematography is alright. Songs scored by Devi Sri Prasad are okay. The children bonding song is very nice. Background score for Jai is very good (especially Asura Asura). Art direction is good and they have selected a nice palace for Jai. Editing is okay. Production values by NTR Arts are neat. 
Analysis: Jai Lava Kusa must be the most satisfying film for NTR as an actor. It gives him a lot of scope for exploit his unlimited acting skills. Plus points of the film are basic story idea and Jai character. On the flip side, a racy narration and an interesting screenplay would have made a lot of difference. We need to wait and see how movie lovers embrace the movie.
