Raja (Ravi Teja) is a visually challenged man whose mother (a police constable played by Radhika) aims to make him a cop. Lucky (Mehreen Pirzada) loses her cop father (Prakash Raj) and is the target of the local gangster Devaraju (Vivan Bhatena). Raja gets an opportunity to be an undercover agent to save Lucky. Rest of the story is all about how Raja inspires Lucky and realises dream of his mother in the process.
Actors: It’s a tailor-made character for Ravi Teja. He applied the body language of visually challenged man very well. He maintains the same energy throughout in comedy, fights and dances. Mehreen does the pivotal role well. Prakash Raj plays an important character. It’s nice to see Radhika on a big screen after a long gap. Srinivasa Reddy is good as buddy (more like a translator) of Ravi Teja. Vivan Bhatena suits the role of a sadistic villain. Rajendra Prasad does a variety comedy role. Posani Krishna Murali, Prabhas Seenu etc played bad husbands who later gets reformed.
Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film is routine. But, Anil Ravipudi has added the visually challenged characterization to make it different. This aspect has added more scope for comedy and action sequences in the film. Anil Ravipudi always makes sure that there is ample sentiment in this film. If Patas has father sentiment, this film has mother sentiment. He made sure that the 80% of scenes (including fights) cater to comedy. Like his earlier films, he has given mass orientation for this film also. If he continues in the same pattern, he will be branded for one particular kind of cinema. He should add aesthetics to his narrative style and take subjects with more class orientation. The climax fight in darkness is already explored in ‘Andhagadu’ film. And one would think that movie is over after that fight. The song that follows and another climax look extended/forced. 
Other departments: Songs scored by Sai Karthik are average. Background music is partly good. ‘Gunna Gunna Mamidi’ which is famous as recording dance tune has been used on housewifes in the second half and it’s entertaining. Cinematography of the film is alright. Dialogues written by Anil Ravipudi are entertaining. Production values are okay. 
Analysis: Ravi Teja has created a trend in comedy for himself. Anil Ravipudi has been catering to masses with entertainment orientation in films. Raja The Great is a film that blends the entertaining styles of these two people. Plus points of the film are hero’s characterization and entertainment. On the flipside, story is routine and second half is slow (the oft-repeated Telugu film concept of hero coming to heroine’s place) and climax appear dragged. On a whole, if you are looking for a Ravi Teja’s trademark comedy, Raja The Great is for you!
