Naga Siddharth comes from the family of educationalists. He is making his debut as a hero with a film titled Badmash which is releasing on 13 August. Here are the excerpts of an exclusive chitchat -

Background:
I come from the family of educationalists. My mother has been working as a principle of Siddhardha Degree college for the past 20 years. I completed my masters in Computer Science in Australia. Then I worked as a SAP consultant for HP. Nagayya garu (correspondent of Siddhardha college) was planning to make a movie in Vandemataram Srinivas's direction. It suddenly stuck to him that he could cast me as hero. My mother gave me green signal. I resigned from my job and got into training. and lost 14 kgs in few months. I got trained in acting at Vizag Satyanand’s institute.

You had chosen software as profession and why did you change your career?
I have passion for movies since childhood. My mother immensely supported me and wanted me to become an actor when this opportunity came up.

What kind of movie is Basmash?
Badmash is a college based love story with a strong message to students/parents. We are trying to say that studies should be embraced with liking and studies should never be thrust onto the students.

Why did you choose a negative title like Badmash for a message oriented college love story?
Badmash has nothing negative in it. It denotes the naughtiness of students in their youth. Hero’s character epitomizes such naughtiness.

How is it like acting in movies?
It is a challenging job. I am hardworking and committed. I am sure that these qualities will help me in establishing myself. Rome is not built in one day. I will work hard consistently in the future.

Tell us about the first time director Vandemataram?
He came up with a nice script and he did well with the movie.

Tell us about music?
Vandemataram hired top musicians to work for this album and you can see that effect in the orchestra and quality of the songs. My favourite numbers are title song and Ninna Monna.

You had a promotional tour recently. How was the response?
We toured entire AP from Hyderabad to Vizag to promote the movie. We distributed 5000 posters of the movie in the process. The response has been terrific.

How many days did you shoot the movie for?
Badmash is shot in 55 working days. The runtime is going to be 2:20 hours. We are releasing the movie with 35 physical prints and many more digital prints in over 90 theaters.

What are your favourite movies and who do you like among the actors?
I am a huge fan of legend NTR and Sridevi. Sholay, DDLJ and Major Chandrakant are my favourite movies. I love all the films directed by Shankar for the way he mixes entertainment with social responsibility. I am a huge fan of Rajamouli.

You have similar face cuts of actor Prabhas. Do you take it an advantage?
I want to be myself and make my own identity. I want to establish as a good actor.
